Meet Dr. Tamara Mitchell-Davis | Visionary Author & Business Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Tamara Mitchell-Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Tamara, what do you attribute your success to?
Success, I’ve found, is not a singular event but a journey marked by continuous growth, learning, and an unyielding passion for what I do. As the CEO of TM Davis Enterprise LLC and an award winning and multi-bestselling author, if I were to pinpoint the most pivotal factor behind my success, it would be a steadfast commitment to empowering others through storytelling and shared experiences.
Stories are more than just narratives; they are the essence of human connection, understanding, and inspiration. From my last anthology penned with my husband and other couples: Love, Business & Marriage to my individual project “Goal Getter” and every client I coach, the core principle remains the same: transforming personal journeys into powerful narratives that resonate, inspire, drive change, and help others.
My journey has been about aligning every step—education, experience, and purpose—with my vision. Whether it was completing Cornell University’s Women’s Entrepreneurship program or being the visionary author and leading the “Blessed Not Broken” series, every action was a deliberate stride towards building a brand centered on empowerment, transformation, and impact.
Making it a priority to continuously evolve and adapt has been crucial. The landscape of authorship and entrepreneurship is ever-changing, and staying ahead means being a lifelong learner and an adaptable leader. This mindset has not only been a cornerstone of my brand’s success but has also enabled me to guide over 75 authors towards bestseller status, aiding them in starting businesses, winning awards, and increasing their presence in the marketplace.
To summarize, the most significant factor behind my success is a blend of relentless passion, strategic learning, and the commitment to use storytelling as a powerful tool for empowerment and change. This has not only shaped my brand but has also allowed me to help others change the trajectory of their lives, both professionally and personally.
When you make your vision a priority, the path to success becomes not only clear but also immensely fulfilling.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At the heart of TM Davis Enterprise LLC lies a mission driven by a passion to empower aspiring authors, leaders, and entrepreneurs. What sets us apart is our unique approach to storytelling, combining personal experience and skill to help our clients build authority and credibility. We’re not just about teaching writing or business tactics; we focus on enabling our clients to craft compelling narratives that resonate with their audiences.
One of our flagship offerings, and something I’m immensely proud of, is our annual Pen to Profit Conference. This event is more than just a conference; it’s a powerhouse of inspiration, learning, and networking opportunities. Here, we bring together a community of like-minded individuals, all eager to learn, grow, and succeed (books and business). It’s a testament to our commitment to not only provide ongoing education but also to create a supportive and dynamic environment for our clients.
My journey to this point, while filled with remarkable achievements, hasn’t been a walk in the park. It’s been paved with challenges, long nights, and learning experiences that have shaped both me and the business. Each challenge was an opportunity to grow stronger and more resilient, teaching me invaluable lessons about perseverance and dedication.
The biggest lesson?
Navigating the path of entrepreneurship has been like riding a rollercoaster – exhilarating, unpredictable, and filled with learning curves. The most significant lesson I’ve learned, and one that I passionately impart to our clients, is the importance of exploring new strategies, being open to learning, and embracing (trusting) the process of trial and error. Entrepreneurship is about testing ideas, adapting to changes, and being fearless in the face of new challenges.
Whether it’s adopting new marketing tactics, exploring untapped markets, or innovating our service offerings, the willingness to learn and try new things has been a cornerstone of our success.
At the core of TM Davis Enterprise LLC lies a vision that extends beyond the traditional scope of a business. Our brand and story are deeply rooted in empowering coaches, leaders, and entrepreneurs, emphasizing the profound role of storytelling as the heart of our approach. We believe in the transformative power of narrative to create meaningful connections, forge lasting relationships, and drive business growth. By focusing on storytelling, we equip individuals to not only embrace their unique journeys but also to articulate their experiences and visions compellingly. Our commitment is to provide the tools, knowledge, and support necessary for navigating the complexities of their paths, all through the art of storytelling.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d ensure the trip is a delightful blend of relaxation, shopping, cultural immersion, day trips, and, of course, indulging in some fantastic eats. Our days would be a harmonious mix of laid-back moments and exciting explorations to create a memorable experience.
For relaxation and self care, we would have a spa day for some pampering at Escape Massage & Esthetics Studio where the owner is Shawnee.
For shopping, we have several outlets we could choose from as well as a wide array of local black-owned boutiques, such as: Divas & Ballas Boutique (owner-Crystal); Haute’ Couture (owner – Londeena); The Ultimate Shoe Bar (owner Gina); All at Home Boutique (owner – LaToya); Kisha Monique Online Boutique (owner – Kisha). Be sure to look them up.
Special recognition and Rest in Peace to my brother-in-law, Anthony Griffin, who was the owner and founder of Heaven n Hell clothing, which would have been a must-stop within our daily plans. Shout out to his daughter Mariah for keeping the memory and legacy alive.
For specialty gifts, I would shop with Escential Smell Candles (Shaterra) and JoybyVee (body scrubs and hand sanitizers).
For cultural immersion, we could visit local museums, catch a play or comedy show.
Day trips would be taking the ferry to Block Island, driving to The Cape or staying a few days in Maine at The Trellis House.
We have so many restaurants to choose from so depending on food interests, we could visit The Russell for Jamaican Cuisine, Capital Grille, Flemings Steakhouse or head to the casino to check out some of their eateries before trying our luck at the slot machines or blackjack tables.
In essence, the visit would be an eclectic mix of activities and experiences, with each day offering something new and exciting tailored to showcase the best of what the area has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I think about who deserves credit and recognition in my journey, without a moment’s hesitation, my thoughts turn to my daughters. They have been my unwavering source of inspiration, motivation, and joy. Every chapter of success in my story is infused with their influence, and dedicating this shoutout to them feels not just right but essential.
My daughters are the living embodiment of why I do what I do. They have seen the late nights, the early mornings, the triumphs, and the challenges, and they have been at my events, assisting in any way possible to ensure all our guests have a memorable experience.. They’ve witnessed the creation of bestsellers and the birth of impactful ideas. In them, I see the future – bright, promising, and filled with endless possibilities. They are a constant reminder of the importance of shaping a world where dreams are pursued relentlessly and achievements are celebrated.
In the hustle of building a brand and authoring books, they have been my grounding force. Their laughter, curiosity, and resilience remind me daily of the importance of balance, the joy of life beyond work, and the power of dreaming big. They are not just part of my story; they are its very heartbeat.
So, to my daughters, I extend more than just a shoutout. I offer my deepest gratitude and love. They deserve not just a little credit, but a monumental amount for being the light guiding my path. Their presence has been a blessing, shaping not only the person I’ve become but also the essence of my brand and mission.
Their journey alongside mine is a testament to the fact that while we strive for success, it’s the love and support of those closest to us that truly enriches our lives. They are my greatest achievement and my most profound source of inspiration. They will not only remember this as my legacy but they are helping to create and live it NOW!
