Meet Dr. Vanessa Smith, L.ac. | Acupuncturist & Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Vanessa Smith, L.ac. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Vanessa, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One aspect of the acupuncture industry that outsiders might not be aware of is its holistic approach to healing. Acupuncture practitioners take the time to understand their patient’s overall health and well-being, considering both physical as well as emotional factors. This personalized approach leads to more comprehensive and effective treatments, promoting not just the alleviation of specific symptoms, but overall balance and wellness. Additionally, many patients report a sense of relaxation and improved mental clarity after acupuncture sessions, making it a valuable practice for both body and mind.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hands down! I am most proud of all of the people I have helped through Chinese medicine. Whether it be helping someone quit smoking, get pregnant, or have decreased pain; Chinese medicine and Acupuncture has provided me a via in which I can help in significant and memorable ways. It is the help I am able to provide to people that truly makes what I do worthwhile and fulfills me on a deep level. I have always been a people person, and I have always sought out work that was geared toward improving others around me. From a business perspective, I carry this trait with me. I think as long as I stay true to the core value of helping others, my business will continue to thrive.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow! A week long trip?! I havn’t had that kind of time to galavant around in a long time! If I had a week with my best friend around SoCal, I would start south and move my way up. I would start by soaking up the sun in San Diego. I would then take them to the wineries of Temecula. Wilson Creek Winery is my absolute favorite! So, lunch there would be a must! I would then most likely take them to Disneyland and then to an Anaheim Angel’s or Ducks game depending on the season. Near and around Los Angeles, my favorite go-to’s are The Getty, Griffith Observatory and Huntington Library.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! The women and strong female leaders in my life have been a huge cornerstone of my success. Coming from a matriarchal family, where my mother and grandmother were the overall authority. Through them, I had a powerful support system that imbedded in me the concepts of feminine strength, gender equality, compassion and community. I definitely credit them for who I am today.
