We had the good fortune of connecting with D’Shawn Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi D’Shawn, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important thing behind my brand is to… 1. Stay Original. A friend of mine once told me that when you stay original and stay yourself it shows in your work and nobody can take that away from you.
2. Stay Focused. I’ve learned to stay focused and not let anyone get in between your goals and Dreams

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I use clothes as an escape from life from the colors to textures to the styles and designs. I like to match different things and come up with new styles to present to the world. i also like take my fashion inspirations like Kurt Cobain, 2 Pac, Pop Smoke, or even DMX and then i try to recreate their style with different colors or styles. That helps me to design my clothing different as well because i only make clothing that i would wear. I’ve always been into fashion but its just now started to come out of me. I come from a fashion type of family where i grew up with the top street wear coming from the 90’s i would wear Nike, FILA, and of course the beloved Jordans. I have baby pictures of me in Nike and Hilfigure outfits with my name on them as a baby and i still have these outfits in my closet. My mom and aunt always kept me in the latest everything and my dad showed me how to put everything together and i put them all together and became what i am today. Now i want to take fashion to a different level by styling and making clothing that people would love to wear. It was not easy getting to where i am today because people didn’t want to give me a chance i had to make my way to a chance and I ended with a job as a stylist for an up coming rapper so i would love say DON’T stop NOW no matter how far you are. If you’ve been in square one of your journey for 3 year keep going until you figure out a plan and keep your faith strong. I would want everyone to know how hard i actually work behind the scenes to make things happen whether I am styling somebody or drop a new design. I work my heart out to be the best i can not just in fashion but in life period.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say thank you to god and my friend/brother Tyon Woods who passed away. I wear him on my chain and i know he is looking down and helping me get further in life and then I would also give a shout out to my close family and close friend the ones that I call my brothers and sisters. They cheered me on stay on my side and helped to get me in the position I’m in today.
