We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Gorenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, what inspires you?
Musically I am inspired by the creative process. Whether it is performing, composing, recording, or teaching; each day is unique and provides me with a new outlook on music. I have received the same satisfaction from teaching a beginner a Green Day song, teaching a college-level course, and touring Europe. After all these years I still look at music the same way I did when I was 12 years old rocking out to smoke on the water. I am constantly trying to improve my musicality with my performing and composing. Part of the creative process that I look forward to most is realizing that each day is unique and brings a new puzzle to solve.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I’ve learned is that there is a multitude of creative avenues for an artist to explore. In addition to my live gigs and teaching, I am currently working as a consultant for multiple online educational platforms in curriculum development. I also record and compose for various forms of media such as film, tv, youtube, podcasts, and much more. Although it can feel overwhelming at times, I love the variety that each day has to offer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although there are many things to do in Los Angeles my must-to-do’s would consist of going to CVT’s soft-serve ice cream truck in Studio City and the best live music in all of Los Angeles at The Baked Potato. The best part of The Baked Potato is that their menu only consists of potatoes and they are the size of your head! What’s not to love about Mr. Potato Head?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe most of my musical growth and success to my college professors at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Not only did they educate me on real-life scenarios that I have incorporated time and time again since graduating with my Masters Degree but they have also helped me grow as an individual. They would always push me to explore new avenues and help me look at music through a different lens.
