We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Marusich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Over time, I have learned that I can trust myself. I trust that I am able to complete my work, I trust in my ability to act and write, and I trust myself to see things through to their completion. Trusting myself helps me battle my irrational anxieties and fears more than anything else.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I fell in love with acting in college. When I transferred to Loyola Marymount University, I auditioned for a show in the hopes of meeting new people at school. Little did I know that it would spill over into several other productions, and even placing me on the executive board of the student theater on campus.

I majored in Journalism. I don’t have a long history in acting, but I have been fortunate enough to find success in my small community and many opportunities to learn. To me, it is the most fun job in the world.

For me, my perfect vision for what my career could be does not go toward “Awards Gold” or mass recognition. If I could get on a stage in front of one person and make them feel something, learn something, or experience something that moves them even the slightest bit, that’s success.

I love art. I love to try my hardest to make good art with the people that are closest to me. I have been fortunate enough to find that in recent history, and I am hoping I can continue that pattern into the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am admittedly still pretty new to Los Angeles myself, but there are a couple of ‘must-see’ destinations in my head. Firstly I would want to go to The Landmark, the theater on Pico Blvd. It’s such a cool spot and they consistently project great movies.

Now that I think about it, I think a Los Angeles movie theater tour would be in order. I love the New Beverly, the American Cinematheque, and I’m anxiously awaiting to see if the Cinerama Dome is going to re-open.

Aside from movie theaters, I would go to the Westside essentials. Santa Monica Pier, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Venice. If you travel up PCH all the way near Malibu, there’s a little seafood restaurant called Gladstones. It sits right on the ocean, and the food is absolutely insane.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my beautiful partner Zoe Carr. Their faith in me and support has allowed me to propel myself to heights I never thought I could reach on my own.
