Meet Dyrel “Dice” White Dicethebarber | Barber, actor, comedian, father, influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dyrel “Dice” White Dicethebarber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dyrel “Dice” White, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is anything that you work hard for & achieve those goals. Never giving up b & understanding that there are obstacles in life & once you surpass those obstacles you set for yourself in life then you are succeeding. But there’s much more success after 1 success. Keep going & push yourself to everything you want in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I’m proud with the production I made in life because I come from Camden/Mt Holly New Jersey which aren’t & weren’t the best places to grow up in. To get out of there & progress the way I have is remarkable. I wouldn’t take anything away from the way I grew up because growing up in the city made me the man I am & prepared me to be ready for anything the world has to bring. What got me here today was I loved to California from Jersey. I was doing music & can’t to Cali to pursue that. Once I got to Cali I realized a different life better than what I was in. I was a big time damn near kingpin in the marijuana business back home (Jersey). But was also real big locally in the rap game. I was the person that was the life of the party. When I came to Cali to record some songs I fell in love with the Hollywood life. So my friend from high school Harvey offered me to move to Cali in his place & I accepted 2wks after my first visit. I was tired of walking around with a gun & the visualization of crank heads & poverty everyday. Once I got to Cali I found a well known barbershop called “in the cut” in North Hollywood after working at Salon called Smoothe Operators for a year. 4 out of 7 barbers at “in the cut” were comedians. The app Vine was popular at the time & Tony Rock said that our shop was funny & that we should do a vine video showing how funny barbershops could be. We didn’t know anything about vine or social media in 2010 so we looked it up & did a video. That video went viral everywhere! Now we have attention & social media heat. We decided to do more. No barbers were doing funny barbershop videos or sketches until we started doing them. We were the pioneers of funny barbershop videos. So much that we did another viral video with Mike Epps. Robert Townsend took notice in us & said we reminded him of the “I’m gonna get you sucka” days & brought Garrick Tre & I a bottle of champagne for our success & invited us to a BET event where he introduced us to everyone as the new up & coming of social media because we tapped into a lane nobody else was in. From there most of your biggest social media people noticed us & wanted to shoot barbershop videos with us. We had people flying in from all over the world to shoot with us “funny barbers” on Mondays which we were subject to shooting on due to it being 1 of the slowest days of the week. From there it was all go! It definitely wasn’t easy because we had so many people that wanted to shoot with us now that we had to figure out a role for the 20’s of people that showed up on Mondays. But we got everybody in & gave them their shine. What I want people to know about my brand is to always keep pushing & you are the only 1 that can believe in your vision so don’t ever give up!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting & I’ve had plenty. If they never been to Hollywood I would take them on what us locals call “the Hollywood tour” which consists of Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier, Venice & the Hollywood sign & a place that shows a good view of the city at the top of Runyon Canyon. Then I would go into my client contacts that I know that are promoters at popping clubs & get us in there to do the Hollywood club scene which made me wanna move to Cali

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids are my #1 motivation in life. Everything I do is for them & setting examples about life & the future for them is my motivation. Teaching them things I never knew growing up & giving them the keys to a successful life is my motivation. I didn’t grow up knowing about credit & investing & having a good credit score. So know that I’m older & learned so much I can pass that on to them. Life is about progress & making each generation better. So what I know I feel like I’m making my legacy generations better.
