We had the good fortune of connecting with Eat The Cake Band and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eat The Cake Band, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal is to be able to travel around the world playing our music and influencing those who gravitate towards our sound as Eat The Cake Band. Our most immediate goal is tour The United Kingdom and we can’t wait.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets Eat The Cake Band apart from other bands is the way we merge hip hop, rock music and soul together for a blend that is out of this world. We stay true to every element of Hip Rock & Soul. Not only are we a woman fronted band but we are also majority (POC) people of color. Our performances are super energetic yet intimate and cosmic. We have been steady on our path within the music industry and have definitely put in our 10,000 hours now we are focused on putting more music out and making our way to the U.K. Some challenges we have faced as a band are holding on to members when things aren’t happening fast enough. It takes a certain kind of artist to stick with it even when you feel like your efforts are not getting recognized. We have overcome these challenges by keeping the vision alive and besides making music is therapy for us and everybody needs therapy lol Some lessons we have learned along the way are to always look for the silver lining, invest in yourself and keep positive people around you and never stop the momentum, keep creating. We want the world to know that we’re the shit!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
one of the best spots in the city is our rehearsal space located in The Ladie Clair (guitarist) basement. We are here every week rehearsing and sometimes you can catch us live on IG on thursdays.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to definitely shout out the artist Russ for laying out the blueprint of how to be a successful indie artist and also LaRussell another artist who gives us great inspiration for how is changing the indie industry around with his innovative outlook on the music industry.
