Meet Eden and Jay Trevino | Creators of @PreciosaNight

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eden and Jay Trevino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eden and Jay, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When we would go out to queer spaces they never felt like they were inclusive to Latino culture and the ones that advertised for people of color didn’t feel that they were in the safest environment. We took a big look around and thought this cant possibly be it, so instead of waiting for someone to truly make an inclusive space for our community, we decided to make one our selves. Jay has had this idea for years so we finally sat down and discussed details and what that night looked like to her. She’s the creative and I am the executor, so together we make the perfect team.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Preciosa Night is a grassroots movement created by us, for us. We have successfully turned nightlife upside down by producing unforgettable events that combine culture, community, and queerness for the P.O.C. + Latinx + WLW womyn community. We’ve created a one-of-a-kind experience that’s ready to make HERstory! We’ve only thrown 4 events and we have learned that this community desperately needs safe spaces like ours to truly feel authentically themselves. We have received hundreds of dms of people expressing their love for our events and that keeps us motivated to continue to grow the movement. Creating this night wasn’t easy, We don’t come from money by any means, so having to put on these events out of pocket has been an adjustment in our lives but its all worth it when you see your community happy and seen.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this a wonderful question.
We would take my friend to Boyle Heights and grab a cafecito and pastries at El Cafe by Primera Taza, lunch at Philipes because how can you not try a classic sandwhich when visiting LA and we’d have a grown and sexy dinner at Bestia. Picnic at Echo Park lake, grab drinks at Bar Flores, Catch a movie at one of the oldest movie theaters, The Vista. Followed by our fave a TACO TOUR LA style, visiting Villas Tacos, Evil Cooks, Pink and Boujee, and the classic Avenue 26.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love t shout out our chosen family and everyone who believed in the movement and saw its potential even when we couldn’t see it for ourselves sometimes.
