We had the good fortune of connecting with Eduardo Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eduardo, what do you attribute your success to?
Staying true and doing what is right. I told myself that cutting corners was not an option. Whether it was our first day or now in our third year, every item on the menu would be represented with pride.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve worked in coffee since 2005. Admittedly I just wanted to make a better cup of coffee while studying kinesiology & mass communications. Curiosity of what variables made coffee taste better led me down a rabbit hole of questions. It was not as easy in 2005-2010 to ask questions. No one really shared as easily and there wasn’t a lot of resources available. Barista Competitions, much like cooking competitions, was a great way to network & meet baristas of all backgrounds. Many i still consider great friends. After competing I was intrigued to judge at a regional level and national level. I didn’t know until late 2017 that I wanted to open a coffee shop of some sort. The hardest challenge was taking a year off from my good job after the Tubs Fire in Sonoma County. That time was stagnant at times as I pondered what Myriad Coffee would feel like from the most important point of view. The consumers. You. Patience was, like they say, a virtue. I wanted to prove that anyone could follow a mission & objective with a financial discipline, a daily drive, & willing to accept failure & ALL or any setbacks.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think the most wonderful place is a Saturday morning at the Ferry Building Farmers Market in SF. So much good food & coffee as well. Plus being near the bay is always magical. Mezcalito is a great little spot with amazing decor & beverages.
The MOMA is a great museum where you can always separate from the buzz of the world wide web.
If you’re lucky to catch your favorite band the Warfield is a perfect historic venue to visit. I always prefer a seat upstairs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve always been fascinated & admired Martin Luther King Jr . In high school, 1999, a quote really hit home with me. “The time is always right to do what is right” -MLKJ We started in 2019 & with the pandemic and wild fires in California we knew that staying open and providing a sense of normalcy & kindness was in line with our mission to help the world smile brewing delicious coffee.
