We had the good fortune of connecting with Edyn Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edyn, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I hate to be one of those people that starts a story with “from a very young age” but I don’t think people fall into creative careers it’s a part of you. I was in pageants, a competitive cheerleader, and went to a performing arts magnet school. YouTube has been a way to perform on my terms in the most authentic way. I only have to take my own direction. It started as an outlet and overtime became something I was able to do full-time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a yoga teacher and fitness enthusiast that caters primarily to plus size individuals. I also have a huge beef with the wellness industry not only for the lack of size inclusivity but also for the premium they put on health. My belief is that health should be accessible to all, period. That’s why all of my yoga focused videos are free and ad free. All classes that I teach in person have a sliding scale option and sponsored spaces so that cost is never a barrier to wellness. Being a fat person on the internet is tough, being fat and speaking up about inclusivity and wellness comes with a unique set of challenges. I constantly have to prove my knowledge and demonstrate my expertise to be taken seriously in the fitness industry. I’ve learned in the process that my tribe will find me, the opportunities that are for me will be for me, and I just need to continue to show up authentically with good intentions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is such a fun question! The first stop would be Earle’s on Crenshaw my go-to is the salmon burger and chili cheese fries! The South Bay is one of my favorite places and Dockweiler it’s never crowded, the water is meh but you can have an awesome bonfire! Grab a late dinner at Somerville and thank me later. Breakfast at the serving spoon, grab a concha to go from Panecito, then head to The Baldwin hill’s overlook it’s a must see at sunset, seriously breathtaking, LA is one of the most beautiful places on earth and seeing it under the cotton candy sky is something words can’t express. The next morning we’d catch a class at Y7 it’s yoga to loud hip hop music, you flow once with the teacher, once a bit faster, then one last time on your own, it so nice to feel the beat and move at your own pace. Wed follow that up with a long wait at courage bagels, salmon roe on a bagel is my type of party. Cap off the night with free jazz night at LACMA every Friday May-Nov. Splatterz in Westwood is one of my favorite places to unwind it’s pottery painting so you can make your own mug and bowls set I love thrifting at the plus bus as well for a mid-day activity. I either catching a sunset at the far end of palisades park or head up to the observatory when I have friends in town they’re both a great way to lock in a core LA memory.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can think of a few times I’ve been acknowledged that helped build my brand. Winning healthline’s best yoga video, my mention in Elle Australia, or being considered one of the best yoga YouTube channels by yoga journal. Ultimately none of the success I’ve seen or mentions in media would have been possible without the support of my amazing audience. They shared my videos, liked, commented, fought trolls on my behalf. and subscribed to boost me in the algorithm. They deserve so much credit in my story, the support is priceless.
