We had the good fortune of connecting with Egor Karpovtsev and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Egor, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
One of the most difficult decisions I”ve made was moving to USA from Russia because of the War. It was hard to get used to time difference and language but now I’m used to it. It was also uncomfortable for me to leave other family members like grandpa or grandma because I love them a lot.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a 12 year old hockey player for the La Kings AAA. Something that sets me apart from others is putting the work in, pushing myself, and setting goals for a short and a long time period. One of the things that I’m proud of is myself confidence and self talk because, whenever I feel like something is impossible I can always talk my myself out of that bad mood and build confidence. I started playing hockey at 5. I was playing in Russia. Everyone was working hard but I was working extra. I would have a skating, shooting, and dry land practices right after team practice. That hard work made me move to America and play professionally. It wasn’t easy because the only days off were Christmas, New Years, and birthday. I have learned a big lesson to not stop or give up and keep pushing because, if you stop someone else will take your spot. I want everyone to know that I’ll be unstoppable because, I want to follow my father’s path and eventually pass him. My dad was the first Russian hockey player who won The Stanley Cup.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in California next to Wild Rivers, so I would take my friend there from 10 am to 3 pm. Then we will go to play actual golf until 6 pm. After we will go the bowling spot to play a lot of bowling until 9 pm. For the rest of the time we will be in the fanciest steakhouse. We would do that for the whole week and have the best time of our lives.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My main and the most important shoutout goes to my Mom. I appreciate everything she does because it’s not fun to be single mom. She spends so much effort and money on my hockey career. She puts so much love in what she does for me. I also want to give a special shoutout to my grandpa for giving me all the love and support. He calls me after every single game to give me feedback. When I played in Russia he would wake up with me at 4-5 am to make me breakfast and drive me to practice.
