We had the good fortune of connecting with Egypt Brown & Tyler Sugars and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Egypt & Tyler, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I (Egypt) and Tyler both work essential jobs but we were still effected by the pandemic when it first began. I work in a hospital setting in the Surgery department and work became very slow when they started to cancel surgeries due to surge in Covid-19 cases.Tyler’s work is in quality control department in the Biopharma industry and she began working remotely for similar reasons, which gave her a more flexible schedule. I’ve always been creative and Tyler is always looking for new business ventures. Together we decided to start a business that mostly operated outdoors so people could still get together in a safer way and enjoy their loved ones. This provided another source of income for us during these troubling times, while also creating memorable moments for people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I (Egypt) am a currently a LVN and a full-time student pursuing my Registered Nursing License. Tyler, a Spelman College alumna, is Chemist and Tax Professional. What sets us apart from others is that when we set goals our number one priority is to execute them. We are most proud of how focused we’ve remained on accomplishing our business and personal goals. Where we are today was only possible by working hard through challenges, never giving up, and not letting small things discourage us. No success story is easy but we support each other a lot even in our personal lives so that helps. A few lessons we’ve learned along the way is to move beyond our mistakes and recalibrate our efforts toward the success of our brand. We would like the world to know that we put in a lot of time and attention to detail when we help people create special memories. Our clients satisfaction is always our main concern. Lastly we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for our customers. We appreciate you for booking with us, shouting us out, and referring us!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If my bestfriend was visiting the area the first place I would take them is to the beach! Everyone loves Los Angeles for the weather and beaches. First we would grab some food from some of my favorite eats like The District or Baja Sharkeez, have drinks at Calo Kitchen + Tequila, visit the Nipsey Hussle mural on Crenshaw and Slauson to take some pictures, visit some lounges in DTLA for the night life, and of course set up a picnic for them at a scenic view by the Hollywood sign overlooking the city!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I (Egypt) and Tyler both have very supportive mothers who have stepped in and helped us a lot our first year in business. Whether it is helping us set up or grabbing something needed for one of our picnic set-ups. We would also like to shout out Jonathan, Tyler’s fiancé, who is very supportive. He has helped us so much by always offering to help us on our busy days or late nights.
