Meet Elaine Cartas | Business & Career Coach For Women of All Colors

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elaine Cartas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elaine, how does your business help the community?
My business, Elaine Lou, LLC, is a Business and Career Coaching Business for WOC and allies. In the past 3 years, my team and I have served 250+ clients to empower them to receive multi-six figure salaries to building empires that range from getting their first clients to multi-six to 7-figures! Not only are my clients helping women of color to create a business, but to also create legacies that will last for generations.

What should our readers know about your business?
Before being a Business and Career Coach for WOC and allies, I was a former nonprofit fundraiser and grassroots organizer. That experience allowed me how to truly connect and listen with others. I was able to take that away in my own coaching business. The journey to creating and scaling my business wasn’t easy, but I was brave enough to ask for help. I hired mentors, asked for help. I also made bad investments, and many mistakes. But it was those mistakes that made me stronger, and has allowed me to help my clients create more preventive measures.
What I would like the world to know is that I asked for help and did not do it alone. That as a women of color, I want to empower fellow women to not just create their own legacies but to also support one another in their own legacies.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Lacy Park in San Marino. It is such a quaint park where it’s huge, green lawns and you can just lay there and be present. During these times, I’ve been frequently visiting the park to keep myself grounded and enjoy the simple things in life. I would often see kids run around and laugh, grandparents walk around. It’s so beautiful to see and remind ourselves that it is the simple things in life that makes us happy.
Another place is Pasadena City Hall, the architect of City Hall is gorgeous.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a first generation immigrant, I would like to thank my family. My Filipino family taught me how to bring people together. I remember my Nana and Tata having people over their house all the time when I was a kid. And pre-pandemic, my parents would have people over at their house. Now I get to have events where I bring women of color together so they can support one another. Thank you to my family for helping me create a life of choice.
I would also like to acknowledge my ex-job, Pasadena City College. I had the privilege of being a fundraiser and raising over $1.1 million in student scholarships for 200+ students. This experience allowed me the importance of asking money to serve others. I got to meet with incredible donors who were willing to give back to their community. And I got to see the transformation the scholarships did for our students. As a result of being inclusive, and being mission based I have brought this experience to my own business. I also would like to provide a special shout out to my ex-boss, Bobbi Abram, the Executive Director for the Pasadena City College Foundation. Having Bobbi as my boss has taught me how to be an incredible and empathetic leader. I am forever grateful that I had Bobbi as my mentor at Pasadena City College, and for life.
