Meet Ekaterina Abramova | Artist – Visual Alchemyst

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ekaterina Abramova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ekaterina, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Freedom of choosing for themselves and listen to your heart. The only authority is your inner voice. Listen it and develop trust with yourself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is based on the mythology and symbols of the world, which has always fascinated me the most. I find the stories from different cultures, depicting powers beyond our understanding, to be incredibly captivating and beautiful. To me, these tales represent the true essence of humanity and our cultural heritage.
I take immense pride in being a full-time visual artist, a woman, and a mother of three. My art has led me to various places where I’ve lived and traveled, serving as my main source of energy and mission.
One of my most memorable moments was standing on the stage of the venerable Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, Russia, presenting my diploma as a Theatre artist. My children were with me in the auditorium, and as I concluded my presentation, the entire audience rose to applaud me. I received a gold medal from my academy, the best diploma of the year, and an exhibition of my work at the Moscow Manege. Despite the challenges of having young children and sleepless nights, I now see it as my greatest achievement – my children and my contributions to the world of art.
Following your heart and intuition is paramount, as only you can make decisions for yourself. It’s crucial to strive to be the best version of yourself. For me, having a grand idea or mission is essential. Without it, staying motivated and overcoming obstacles becomes much more difficult. While it’s important to address daily challenges, it’s equally vital to have bigger ideas that help put things into perspective.
My story is one of unwavering commitment from early childhood to fulfilling my purpose in life. Nothing has been able to deter me when I continue to follow my highest destiny. Since the age of nine, I’ve known why I’m here, and I’ve never questioned it. Through my visual language, I aim to show others how important they are and that they are part of a greater plan/myth.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am not from LA; I live in Miami, but I often go to LA for my shows and festivals. I recommend visiting The Getty Center, attending gallery openings, and exploring Topanga. For food, I would take you to sushi in Little Tokyo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My art teachers are Velichko Alexander, Kochergin Eduard, and many more. My life teachers are my kids, my husbands, and the people with whom I am close. The people in your close circle are the ones who influence you the most. But the biggest shoutout is to my mom, Elena. She believed in me when nobody else did and allowed me to follow my passion—art—even though it is not a job that will easily sustain you in life. She always answered my questions with, “You know better; follow your heart.” So I did, and I continue to do so every day. I raise my three kids the same way: Follow your heart and intuition, and remember that only you can make decisions for yourself.
