We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent, one of the most important things that I try to do daily is to model the characteristics and qualities that I hope they will learn to value as individuals. It’s so easy as a parent to get caught up in the trap of “because I said so” while simultaneously modeling behaviors that are the opposite of how we expect them to behave. A big part of what I’m hoping to model to my children is the importance of hard work and self control. These two things translate across all aspects of life from work, to relationships, and the input required of us is always worth it in the end. I try to embody kindness, exhibit patience, and stay joyful in business projects, household chores, and relationship conflict alike.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a content creator is such a unique form of art, but it’s been an incredible creative outlet for me. As a lifestyle and parenting creator my brand in myself and my family. It’s been an interesting journey finding an audience that connects with who I am as I do my best to show up authentically. From the very beginning of “mommy bloggers” starting to become popular on Instagram back around 2015 I tried to not just share the perfect and polished moments and I think that it connect with other moms looking for community. I still remember the first time I shared a “really hard” moment instead of a cute picture in front of a white wall (IYKYK). I had just got home from a drive where no matter what I tried my son had screamed and cried, to the point that I was crying too. I snapped a photo of both of us with tears in our eyes and it really connected with my audience. As life has ebbed and flowed, and the app has changed, I’ve done my best to still show up authentically.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We live in the South Bay area of Los Angeles which is such unique and special little pocket of LA. If someone came to visit we would visit Cabrillo Beach, my favorite easy spot to hit the beach with kids, then get sandwiches at Busy Bee in San Pedro. We’d for sure head to Terranea Beach Trail for a sunset charcuterie picnic dinner. We’d also make sure to hit up the South Coast Botanical Gardens, Riviera Village for some local shopping, restaurants like Little Sister, and coffee shops like Offset. A walk on the esplanade is also Redondo Beach is a must do! A day trip to the Abalone Cove Tide Pools or the Point Vincent Lighthouse would be fun to include. A morning at the Original Pancake house for breakfast always is a good idea! If we’re lucky, maybe they’d visit during the Beach Life Festival and we could watch some incredible live music. Then maybe we’d wrap things up with some shopping at The Point in El Segundo.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So much of my successes are because I have an incredibly supportive partner. My husband is not only my counterpart in family life but also in my business endeavors. He was the first to break into the content creation world over a decade ago and has a wealth of experience and knowledge that he has shared with me along the way. He is always encouraging me to push myself and try new things and giving me constructive criticism. He has been so supportive of my crazy ideas and been allowed me to be the passenger princess on our many trips to events and creator projects.
