We had the good fortune of connecting with Eloiza Tecson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eloiza, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my personal and company success is surrounding myself around people and mentors that can elevate me. I believe in the quote, “If you want to go fast, do it yourself. If you want to go far, do it together.” Whether it is through my podcast, The Drift, where I invite incredible thought-leaders to share their experiences, or whether it is through my venture firm where our team supports founders and entrepreneurs in fueling their company through relationships, capital, and strategies, it is important that we lean on one another – learn from each other – to grow personally and professionally.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
EY Ventures Group is a venture and advisory group that focuses on empowering exceptional founders who are redefining the business of health, sports, and wellness. As a team of operators, founders, and executives, we have seen what it truly takes to grow a startup into mature growth stages. Through our learnings, we believe in empowering founders with strategic capital like relationships, operational strategies, and leadership development.

Prior to starting EY Ventures Group, I had the humbling opportunity to work with a leading boutique fitness and sports brands into hyper-growth and uncovered my passion in helping entrepreneurs, visionaries, and executives. During this time, I also began to understand how important the broader categories of health, sports, and wellness are to not only help people live healthier lives, but to also create a sense of community and belonging to one another. Our team does the work we do today because we believe in amplifying the voices and efforts of visionaries, and connecting the dots for the overall benefit of our communities, and ultimately create a better, more accessible, and more diverse future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being in the health/wellness and sports industry, it is no surprise that the itinerary for the #fitcation would include physical activities such as water sports, hikes, running, yoga, and much more. However, I am also such a big foodie – having been born in the Philippines, to being raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and then living in South Florida for 7 years, and now being in LA for the past 2.5 years, not to mention I travel frequently, I absolutely love trying new food and foods from other cultures. Typically with guests in town, I am notorious for hosting a personal ‘food tour’ where we’ll try several types of delicacies across the city. Good thing I enjoy exercise!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
While there are so many leaders of which I am grateful for their support and mentorship, I would like to thank my parents for all they have done for me. Migrating from the Philippines to the United States as a young child, I learned the concepts of resiliency, hard work, and sharing kindness during my earliest years. We all live in a challenging, and at times, harsh world, and it is important that we: (i) are relentless in the pursuit of growth, (ii) dedicate the efforts to make meaningful change, and (iii) spread kindness as much as we can. Mom and Dad, I can’t thank you both enough for the never-ending support and for always teaching me transferable skills and wisdom that apply to all aspects of my life.
