Meet Ely HOLBOROW | OC/LA Portrait Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ely HOLBOROW and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ely, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have a genuine talent and passion for empowering others through photography. I think it’s important to capture the authentic essence of my clients during our time together. Whether it’s through boudoir photography, where individuals embrace their bodies and sensuality, or branding portraits that reflect their professional identity, I strive to showcase their true selves without filters or pretense.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have a personalized approach working with each client. Unlike many other photographers who may focus solely on aesthetics, my business places a strong emphasis on empowering my clients. I prioritize creating an environment where individuals feel celebrated, confident, and empowered, whether it’s through boudoir sessions or branding portraits. I also have a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and judgment-free space for clients of all backgrounds, body types, and identities. This welcoming atmosphere allows individuals to express themselves freely and comfortably during their photo sessions, leading to more genuine and impactful results. Over the course of several years, I found myself on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. This caused me to gain the clarity and confidence to shine my light onto others. Now, equipped with a deep understanding of my own journey towards self-love and empowerment, I am privileged to guide and support my clients on their own paths towards confidence and self-expression.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the beach and in my opinion you cannot top an oceanfront view! Two upscale casual spots I would want to go grab a drink, some food and catch up at with the perfect ocean view would be: -Ola’s Mexican Kitchen in Huntington Beach on Pacific Coast Highway, right across from the beach
-Belmont Brewing Co. next to Belmont Veteran’s Memorial Pier, on the beach
If we wanted to go see a show and experience some nightlife in LA, I would want to go back to Mr. Wanderlust to enjoy the ambiance.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have learned a tremendous amount during my time in the Fullerton College Photography Department. Everyone there from the head of the department, to the professors, lab tech, and even the other students are so eager to help each other learn and grow creating an environment that has allowed me to go out of my comfort zone and excel.
