We had the good fortune of connecting with Emani Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emani, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing about the hair/retail industry that outsiders are unaware of is how hard it is to find the perfect vendors, and how slow business can be sometimes.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is based around hair extensions, hair products, and hair accessories. I offer great quality Brazilian hair extensions for an affordable price along with super cute bonnets, strong hold edge control, and much more! The things that set me apart from other hair businesses is my unique name. You wouldn’t expect a brand called The Sunflower Collection to sell hair, you’d think they’d sell flowers or something in that nature. I am most proud of my progress. I’ve made a lot of progress and accomplished more than I expected in just 1 year.

I got to where I am by just being diligent and resilient. It definitely was a task within itself. I’m a sensitive person so when something goes wrong I immediately get in my feelings and start to feel like nothing will ever go right but I had to learn to not let my feelings get in the way of achieving my goals.

I want the world to know that The Sunflower Collection is here to stay & that it took hard work and diligence to get my brand to where it is now.. This is only the beginning ✨

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in my city are the bars and the bowling alleys. My friends and I go to the two pretty often. I don’t have any in specific because they’re all pretty great lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a huge shoutout to my mother who’s resting peacefully in her eternal home. She gave me the courage at a young age to do whatever I put my mind to and never give up even when things get rough. She taught me to always put my best foot forward in everything I do and to be a positive example for the younger people that look up to me.
