Meet Emanuel Deanda | Emanuel is a singer/songwriter/producer/performer/educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emanuel Deanda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emanuel, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I have a few habits I feel have helped to elevate my skill set and career.
One of them is waking up early. Getting my body moving. Whether it’s walking or running. Something to get the blood rushing and my brain cells activated. I get some of my best ideas just from being up and aware. Going outside, hearing nature happening. Getting fresh air. Great ideas happen first thing in the morning.
Another is putting myself on a schedule daily to get something done towards my career and craft. Maybe it’s make at least one beat a day. Sit with a beat and write a line or two, or maybe a hook. If the vibe calls for it, record the ideas. Constant pressure will bust that pipe. That’s how you can be successful by being consistent and persistently working towards your goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is old school. I’ve adopted some of the new school style of making music, but for the most part, I am an old school crooner. That should immediately set me apart from a lot of artists today lol. Going through my experience as a Pretty Ricky lead singer, touring, appearances on BET’s 106 N Park, The Monique Show, etc, it all shaped me into who I am as an Artist and businessman today. It was not an easy road, there are no over night successes. It’s all a grind and you have to put in the work.
Many lessons were learned along the way. Signing bad contracts, not getting paid, the list goes on and on. It was a great stepping stone moving to the person I am today.
I became more determined and I wanted to recreate myself. I taught myself to play the piano and drums, using YouTube videos and natural skill. I turned that into music production. Now I can make beats for myself, being self sufficient. I eventually decided to wear all of the hats necessary for a self run business. I wanted to get the experience of putting out my own music, doing the administrative work for that to happen. Getting the knowledge on how to do business correctly. That’s what changed my whole entire way of operating.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to a game in Pittsburgh. Maybe a Pirates game because we have the most beautiful ballpark in the world. The food and drinks and atmosphere are great. Or maybe a Steelers game. That’s always a packed house and a great time. The Steelers are like rock stars here so they would enjoy that without question. Great food and fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to send a shoutout to my former management and staff at Meanstreet Entertainment. Big D was the manager for my former group from Pittsburgh, Crave. We attained mega local success that started to gain national attention. We eventually were signed to Pretty Ricky/Atlantic Records. He mentored us through our journey in music, and helped to guide us to local and national success. The street team, local radio station WAMO and all of its staff. IG shoutout to them. I would have never had the music industry experience that I had without them.
