Meet Emanuel Robinson | Singer, Songwriter, Performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emanuel Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emanuel, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In my journey of self discovery and my discovery of myself as an artist, I’ve had to learn how to trust. It’s easy to put your trust in something or someone you can or have experienced. However, it’s hard to trust in something that hasn’t come into reality. I’ve learned, through my experiences, to surrender myself to whatever life brings my way and trust the it’s all for my good in the end, and this has been my truth in my life. Now, it’s hard to trust in something or a belief that you’ve seen other have given up, but I’ve learned that my story of my life and journey, isn’t like everyone else’s. So when I accept that truth, it allows me to trust in the process, as long as I keep moving and working towards my goals and dreams. And a lot of times, once you open yourself up to giving in and trusting your process, you’ll receive a lot of validation to reassure you that you are on the right path.
So this is the belief I live by in pursuing the goals and success I see for myself. There’s no giving up, because when you give up then you give up on achieving the full potential of your happiness. I’ll keep going even when I’m not physically on this earth because I believe in the gifts and talents I’m blessed with aren’t just for me, but for the world and generations to come.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The purpose of my artistry is to be moving in a way that encourages strength, love, freedom, happiness, fearlessness, and so much more positive feelings. I believe I was blessed with my voice and my character to touch the world in a way that makes people feel seen and validated. When I create music, I allow myself to be free and let the music that I hear within myself to flow out without questioning it. The melody and lyrics come from a place of trust and love, and I let the story the needs to be told come out. I believe my music isn’t for me, and who it is for it will reach. So with that freedom, I can be daring in my music and it will translate when I perform. Learning to be confident and free on stage when performing is something that I’m always perfectly, because you learn new things every time. But the way I touch people when I perform, motivates me to continue to explore in my artistry so I can continue to reach and touch more people. My journey is always being written daily. Once I let go of compared my story to others around and before me, I was able to accept and trust my purpose in being an performing artist. I’ve experienced being boo’d off a stage, winning and losing competitions, to being told my voice isn’t “what we’re looking for right now”. But all those moments have motivated me to continue on and grow. I see every “no” as a step stone up towards what is for me. I’ve been in preparation for when my time does comes I’ll be ready to live in it.
To over come many of my challenges on my journey I had to learn to strengthen my faith. We utilize faith everyone, and once I began to tap into that power, I realized the power I have over my life. I may not being able to control the structure of the stone but I can control the direction is lays for me to walk on. So I live with my faith as the core of my being.
My purpose is for the world to know me through my voice, singing and speaking. I want the world to be moved and to feed the world, through my voice, the knowledge of the love, strength, and happiness we all have access to forever and always.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So if I’m showing you around LA, the FIRST place we are going to is Louisiana Fried Chicken on Manchester and Normandie, no other one! Get some chicken, fries, and the fried rice with gravy. My mouth is watering already! Maybe get a few sides, while we out, from Dulan’s. Then go to echo park for a walk and find a local bar for drinks. Nighttime, I’d take you dancing in West Hollywood because you’ll have the most fun with great energy and music. Then end the night stop by Leo’s Tacos Truck. And of course a few house parties but those vary.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wanna give recognition to my mother.
As an only child, I was raised to be very independent thanks to my mother. She gave me freedom to develop in my own way, although she might have not agreed at times. She’s lead by example when it comes to being outspoken and strong through my whole life. And because of her I am who I am. Our relationship has been perfect in our way because everything we’ve been through and experienced together, has allowed us to create a strong foundation.
My mother’s sacrifices, known and unknown, has allowed me to continue on in my journey. She’s my main motivation to keep going and to never give up. My mother has grown to accept and trust this journey I’m on to achieve my goals and dreams. And her support fuels my drive, so I’m forever grateful. And I’m grateful to have the platform to give her a shoutout. Love you Mom!
