We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilia Stiegler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Creativity always ran in my family. Both of my parents were artistic in their own way. My dad to this day paints, performs at a local theatre and is a published poet. I realized I enjoyed acting from a young age but everything really changed when I had the opportunity to travel from my home in Chicago to Los Angeles for an acting convention. It was an incredible experience and I ended up being voted the best junior actress of the year. I remember thinking this was it! This is where I belong. I had fallen in love with the city and shortly after I decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue my dream in working in the film industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The world of an actor is a challenging one to say the least. It comes without a roadmap so having the right focus and setting goals for the next accomplishment is important. When it comes to what I am most proud of I have to say it’s my work, the projects and people I had and have the pleasure of working with and for calling it my job. Challenges come in any profession and I overcome mine by remembering this is a business and nothing is personal. Loving what you do is the ultimate reward. If I could go back and tell my younger self anything it would be follow your dreams, it won’t always be easy but the journey will be one for the books!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whats their favorite tv show or movie? Chances are it was filmed here and we can probably go visit the set. We can take a tour of one of the studios- Universal Studios is a must see, take a tour of Paramount studios, WB studios or Walt Disney studios. We can visit the Hollywood sign, walk of fame, or go hiking on one of the million hiking trails available with stunning views. LA has something for everybody, but my favorite spot is the beach. We can drive over to Malibu and take a surfing lesson with Malibu Surf Coach – literally the best surfing school in Malibu. And the food! Depending on the food they like, well we’ve got it! HOPE is one of my favorite Thai restaurants (Healthy.Organic.Positive.Eating) located in Studio City. And more recently I’ve discovered Natas, a Portuguese restaurant that is a delicious little gem in Sherman Oaks. If I start naming all my favorite restaurants this will be a never ending list! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is dedicated to my amazing husband Chas, who makes me feel like my dreams have already all come true everyday. The one book that I would love to give a shoutout to is The Commercial Actors Manual: From A Talent Agent’s Desk written by my sister and mentor Klaudia Jaworski – an absolute must read for any actor looking for the right direction in starting out in commercials.
