Meet Emma Eunoia | Photographer, environmentalist and ocean advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Eunoia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
As an artist and a creative, my values and priorities possess a strong roll within my career, community and self. Of course the simple answer to why I do what I do is to bring joy and light into a place where it can at times be hard to find. But it’s through art I hope my audience gains the ability to observe themselves and their surroundings better in the things that are not us; by connecting with community and nature. Being submersed in a city consumed by speed, automation, social media, wealth, wasting time in traffic, etc.- I’ve found myself to crave quite literally the opposite. Patience. Slow moments. Refinement. Being disconnected from things that don’t enhance my quality of life. With that being said I strive to inspire those interested in my work to make monotonous tasks and minuscule moments artful, pleasurable and romantic as well as sharing them with our loved ones as well as strangers. Life was designed to be that way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Approaching the creative process for me means tapping into a place of vulnerability, curiosity and joy. Visions that I feel inclined to bring to reality tend to unravel instinctively, typically originating within nature but further taking shape when including the human form. The art I’m creating is different than what other creatives are putting out because I create how I wish to see the world. My Photography is the direct result of a strong desire to reconnect with the natural world as we’re all inhabiting and impacting this planet together. Inspiration has no boundaries. Particularly through the human form and Mother Earth. For instance the shape of a rock mirroring the female figure. If I’m capable of activating the imagination of those viewing my art to conceptualize the possiblities of a new reality then I feel accomplished as an artist.
Being thoroughly committed to the pleasure of my existence means taking risks and stepping outside of my complacency.
Along with risk comes probable chance of loss, and on the other hand a reward that is worth the uncertainty. I’ve found that if you want to live a fruitful life you must create it and not be afraid to fail or stand out. Striving to embody a life filled with beauty, passion and love for our planet has always been a priority of mine. This lifestyle has encouraged me to find the confidence to trust in my own process. Contrary to taking a chance is falling into comfortability. For some that’s okay, but for me I find that it inhibits progress and growth. With this consideration I’ve been able to create from a deeper sense of purpose and passion while overcoming many fears and learning along the way. Harnessing this courage and energy only to put it back into my career as an artist, environmental enthusiast and an entrepreneur has been an absolute gift.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As much as I love the way cities bring people from all walks of life together and the idea of strangers coexisting, I don’t necessarily choose to spend my time in them. Rather I crave the idea of being disconnected in nature and far more personable moments. This is why I love LA. Most of my time is spent in West LA and the fact that I can be near the sea, surfing, swimming or diving then up to the mountains with stunning views and even snow within an hour and a half is beyond enticing. If I did have to spend a day in the city however it would include the things i’ve mentioned before but then a glass of organic wine and tapas at Dudley market. Then off to explore the funky art that is flooding the streets. Of course there is always good live music around, so catching a show then ending the night with a scoop of gingers ice cream off Washington.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my journey and pursuit as an artist I’ve been so fortunate to have endless support and encouragement through family and friends. Creativity ebbs and flows, so it’s beyond special to be surrounded by individuals that believe in your vision when you sometimes lose sight. When it comes to the art of making, ideas arrive in many different ways. For me it’s having worked with countless individuals that are wildly talented, open minded, passionate and unafraid to stand out. Those are the people I deliberately chose to share my time and energy with that have impacted my personal creative process. The main source of inspiration however is my sweet niece Ella. Having an opportunity to see the world through a 7 year olds perspective is not only refreshing, it is life changing. While adults (I’m guilty, too) are occupied with work, bills, relationships and so forth, Ella is busy recognizing beauty in even the smallest of moments. A proper reminder to not take myself so seriously but to enjoy every bit of the process. She is light, love and all things good. With a sense of curiosity and appreciation for everything and anything, she brings unconditional joy to those lucky enough to meet her. Not to mention her authenticity, completely unafraid to be herself. Not a moment spent with Ella goes by without learning something new. She carries so many wonderful traits and I’m looking forward to watching her evolve over the years. It’s because of her that I aspire to be the best possible version of myself, in general and throughout my art endeavors.
