We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Pine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
I think the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make was deciding to pursue my dreams and really just focusing on what I wanted to do with my life and putting all my energy towards that. Being originally from Italy, that meant leaving my home, my family, all my friends and everything I’ve ever known and moving to Los Angeles to follow my dreams of working in film and being an artist. I think that’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do as what they don’t tell you about following your dreams, is how hard, difficult, lonely and frustrating it is to do that. It’s hard because usually following your dreams means people not understanding what you are trying to do. It’s like a constant battle to proving yourself to the world and the people around you. Especially being in the film industry, it often feels like a constant competition to get the best job, to be the person on set and then to be recommended for more jobs. All of is hard honestly, from working to keeping your dreams and ambitions alive, but it’s worth it knowing I am following what I really want to do and working for the life I want to live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started working on student film sets during my last year of high school and that’s when I realized I really wanted to pursue film as a career. It has definitely not been an easy journey and I don’t think it will ever be to be honest. The film industry is a constant emotional rollercoaster and there’s always so much to overcome but there’s also so much space to grow, learn and become a better individual. I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to always make the best out of every opportunity you are in. Even the ones that seem like they are not offering you as much as you would want them to. There’s always room to grow your skills and the industry is smaller than what it seems. The people you meet on one job can often offer you the next one, so it’s good to always be open to new opportunities and show how passionate you are to others. I think what I really want the world to know about me is how much I care about everything I do. I’m super passionate about my art and everything I create is with intention, love and passion. As I keep growing as an individual my art grows with me. I think I explore a lot of this within what I create and that’s really how I want to show the world who I am. I hope people will see my different stages of life through my films and my art, which also makes me excited for the future and what I’ll be able to show and I keep growing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles has so much to offer, especially when it comes to film and the arts in general. I think the studio tours are always a fun way to show people how the film industry works while being entertained and seeing iconic locations from the films and tv shows we all love. I think also the Getty museum is a must see when coming to Los Angeles as there’s so much art to observe and a beautiful view on the whole city of Los Angeles.
As a vegan, Los Angeles is a vegan wonderland and there’s so much delicious food to have here. Some of my favorite spost are Sage, El Cocinero, The Grain Cafe and Victory Cafe!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think so many individuals have helped in my journey. My mom, my dad and my sister definitely deserves some much recognition in my story and success. They have always supported me and encouraged me to keep doing what I wanted to do. Also, all the beautiful creative people who are now in my life, deserve all the recognition they can get as they always encourage me to keep chasing my dreams and keep creating. In particular I want to thank Omar Rivera, Carter Dawson, Laura Lopez and Shaily Sanghvi for always supporting me in the past year and truly helping me not to give up on my dreams.
