Hi EQUALdotBRACKET, how does your business help the community?
As a proud resident of Hollywood CA, I have found inspiration in the magic and energy of Los Angeles, which has helped me establish my unique artistic style. My work is instantly recognizable for its clean, abstract patterns that feature Smiley Faces with A Beauty Mark. Using an appropriate mix of colors that reflect the environment, recipient, or my own mood. I paint each piece in a randomized pattern using 3 sizes 3 times. The result is a unique collection of works, each piece distinct from the others. I also paint over famously known characters which you can find around the city (mainly on movie posters). While many artists spend their whole lives searching for a signature style, I have been fortunate enough to discover mine.
Above all, my ultimate goal as an artist is to bring joy and happiness to people’s lives. I firmly believe that art possesses the remarkable ability to inspire and ignite imagination, regardless of age or race. It’s been scientifically proven, smiling has profound positive effects on our health and well-being, including maintaining a positive outlook, reducing stress, boosting our immune system, and enhancing overall happiness. Engaging in the act of smiling, even artificially, can trigger an emotional feedback loop that enhances feelings of happiness and relaxation. It is this message of “Smile More” that I seek to share through my artwork. I am dedicated to creating art that invoke happiness, pride, and a sense of unity among residents and visitors alike. I am passionate about using my art to help others, and I believe it has the power to create a sense of joy in the hearts of those who view it. The best part of my art is that No Matter The Language, Everyone Understands A Smile.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got here by not giving up, growing thick skin, and deep down knowing I’m an artist. It’s still not easy, Im always having ups and downs. It’s easy to overcome challenges because I love painting so it’s easy to keep moving forward. Ive learned to really put yourself out there and not care too much about what people think and say. Just like music artist they can put out 3 Albums but only have 2 hits out of 30+ songs. So keep creating no matter what! I want others to know the best part of my art is that No Matter The Language, Everyone Understands A Smile.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would split up the cities each day.
1. Venice & Santa Monica – Beach day renting bikes to ride on the boardwalk, grabbing food on the pier and going on some of the rides.
2. Hollywood – Typical walk on Hollywood Blvd. visiting famous Roosevelt hotel for some drinks and bowling, Taking a 2 hour bus tour around the city. Ending the night at one of my favorite spots Good Times At Davey Waynes.
3. West Hollywood – Starting off at The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker. Walking Sunset Blvd. Stop by The Comedy Store. End the night at another favorite bar of mine Rocco’s on Santa Monica.
4. DTLA & Chinatown – Visiting the Grand Central Market, shopping the Jewelry District & Drinks at Santee Alley. Swing by Chinatown for some fun nicknacks, Eating at Olvera street. and ending with The Night Market El Gato.
5. Silverlake – Cruising Silverlake and Echo park for thrift shops and amazing restaurants like Bicari & Bacetti. Find an Art show or possibly a Dodger game. Or watch the sunset at Griffith Observatory.
6. Universal, Warner Bros, & Paramount Tours
7. End with relaxing at hotel pool and Beachwood cafe coffee & picnic at Lake Hollywood park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
