Meet Eric Jue | Wing Chun Kung Fu and Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Jue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Protecting others and teaching people how to do the same is a consistent theme in my life and aligns with I Corinthians 13:7 “Love always protects.” I teach, promote, preserve, and pass on the Wing Chun Kung Fu and Filipino Kali (two martial arts used by Bruce Lee, Jason Bourne, and John Wick) to the next generation. How the martial arts I teach at the Jue Wing Chun – Kali Academy, my business in Los Alamitos, help the community and the world:
1 / Teach seniors how to fight back when no one else can or will
2 / Teach students about commitment, respect, teamwork, continuous improvement, and adaptation. All of these foster self-confidence, personal growth, and personal expression; These help them to realize their full potential
3 / Help to protect those who attend South Bay Community Church in Torrance
4 / Help to protect students, faculty, and guests on school campuses in the ABC Unified School District
5/ Promote the arts by performing at the 2025 Gathering of the Masters community event in Arcadia
6 / Promote the arts by co-leading and performing on the Wing Chun Sifu Demonstration Team for the 2025 Golden Dragon Championships in Arcadia; This is the largest traditional Chinese martial arts tournament in Southern California

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialized in organizational optimization and operational excellence as a Consultant with Arthur Andersen & Company and Manager with Toyota USA. I am most proud of being recognized as an innovator and business improvement expert across three industries. I am most excited about continuing to mentor and coach business students at Biola University, Crowell School of Business.
What sett me apart: I use a dual immersion teaching method to expose my martial arts students to Wing Chun Kung Fu and Filipino Kali every group class. This includes how to have an “ethical” fighting mentality. Finally, I provide a high level of coaching as an internationally accredited coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
I got to where I am today by learning, practicing, honing, and combining business fundamentals. The most challenging and rewarding aspects were working on enterprise-wide initiatives and projects and helping the 1 / leadership team see the big picture, 2 / team members understand and wholeheartedly fill their roles, and 3 / organization move from resistance to sustain new and better ways of doing things. I use some of the same principles and concepts as a martial arts ambassador and when I lead projects as part of the Traditional Chinese Martial Arts Federation (TCMAF).
I learned the value, importance, and benefit of anticipating / managing resistance, finding common ground, and making the complex simple by breaking things down for my team members. These ideas have carried over to the way I treat, invest in, teach, coach, and mentor my students.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take him to the highest rated Chinese restaurant at the time in the San Gabriel Valley (aka the “626”). I would also let him take my Wing Chun Kung Fu / Filipino Kali martial art class in Los Alamitos. Finally, I would bring him to South Bay Community Church in Torrance, where I attend worship service.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Sifu David Cheng, Wing Tsun Kung Fu Si-Fu Simon Mayer, Sifu Phillip Chang, and multiple Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) instructors who invested in my development.
