We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Lubman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want it to be a legacy of versatility, innovation and joy. I don’t think I’m good at sticking to one trick or gimmick and I like to try my hand at many facets of creativity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always delved into my little creative worlds as a response to both the outside and inside worlds. When I was younger, my mom would suggest I put my feelings into a poem or a story or a song. I made a lot of little comics, stories, drawings, and eventually songs mostly as a means of self expression. Now making music is my primary form of creative and personal expression, frequently with the goal of making something other can relate to and feel some kind of catharsis or celebration.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Rochester, NY and when friends of mine have visited, I’ve taken them to the House of Guitars, the Strong Museum, Highland Park, and Record Archive. But ultimately the best hang is getting to take someone to a local show!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
