We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Hancock Haley Ives and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin Hancock, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
We both grew up as creative children, always doing some form of hands on art project or craft. We loved things like play dough, making potions out of backyard findings, treasure hunts, playing house, building legos, and using puffy paint with glitter whenever possible. As adults, the last thing we wanted to do was attend college, it just wasn’t for us. We needed to pursue career that would allow our creative spirits to shine, making each day different from the next. When we started working in the floral industry, everything clicked. We began creating flower designs that represented our emotions and brought our ideas to life. Being a florist means using our artistic talents to create atmospheres of beauty and unmatched feelings that arise from our internal and external life experiences. Creating and gifting our designs to our community brings us a profound feeling of love and gratitude beyond words.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We created Lucid Juliet during the heat of the pandemic, starting our business in August of 2020. We both had been in the floral industry for several years, feeling we were stagnant with where our future was headed. It took a huge leap of faith to just go for it, quitting our jobs and relying on ourselves to start a business that would shape our future. Let me tell you, it was not easy, but we were passionately dedicated to the dream. We overcame many obstacles. There are people who did not want to see us succeed. The 18 hour work days, the anxiety of what the future will hold, the self doubts, all of the things I’m sure every entrepreneur experiences. The love and encouragement we received from our supporters and each other is what kept us going. We learned to believe in ourselves no matter what seemingly impossible feat came our way.

We put our heart and soul into each and every project we have the opportunity to work on. We love to get to know our clients in a personal way, which allows us to genuinely connect with them and their vision. Our authentic approach to floral design and attention to detail has really proven to be our secret sauce. We love adding personal touches to our arrangements such as Polaroid pictures, fortune cookies, disco balls, fabrics, and unexpected additions to our designs.

We are proud to be a women owned small business, sharing our light with the world. We stand proudly behind women empowerment, equality, inclusivity, and diversity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Vegas Vacation, baby!!!

It’s Saturday morning! First off, we are hitting up PublicUs downtown for brunch. They have the most delicious coffees and incredible food items. I would recommend the avocado toast or the pozole! Don’t forget your oat milk latte.

Next we are walking the streets of Fremont. We will head over to Ferguson’s and check out Market in the Alley. There are so many talented small business owners showcasing their products in booths. You will love these people, the scene is amazing.

For lunch, we will grab Le Thai just up the road. Fresh ingredients and the most tasty curry and Pad See Ew.

We will walk around Container Park after lunch to check out the shops and sit by the park.
After the downtown journey, we will head back to relax and change for dinner.

Dinner time, we HAVE to go to Esther’s Kitchen. Absolutely my favorite restaurant in town. The fresh made pasta and artisanal ingredients set them apart from all of the rest!

For the rest of the trip, we have a lot of ground to cover. I will fill you in on the goodies…

Food:
Flower Child. North Italia. Tacotarian. Kona Grill. Eat. Taco Y Taco. The Kitchen Table. Joe Maxx Coffee.

Shops:
Carrie Lynn’s Plants. Minimal Market. Alt Rebel. Tofu Tees. The Burnt Boutique.

Sites to See:
Red Rock. Neon Museum. Area 15. Bellagio Conservatory. Circa pool.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A huge shoutout to Summer Robbins, who runs her amazing floral company in Bend, Oregon. Haley had the opportunity to move to Bend, OR, and freelance for Summer. Wanting to expand her floral knowledge, she was able to work alongside many talented women who showed her the ropes. Not only is Summer a master of her craft, she is also an inspiring, caring and magical person inside and out, becoming one of Haleys closest life long friends.
