Meet Etysha Mixon | Founder & CEO of Tee’s Tea

We had the good fortune of connecting with Etysha Mixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Etysha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was deeply personal and rooted in my desire to create something meaningful for both my family and my community. The inspiration behind Tee’s Tea LLC comes from my parents. As they’ve aged, they’ve faced various health challenges and, like many seniors, have been prescribed numerous pharmaceutical drugs. It was disheartening to watch these medications often cause more harm than good. Take, for example, a common pain reliever like Tylenol—while it might help with a headache, long-term use can lead to kidney and liver damage.
My mother wasn’t open to traditional cannabis consumption methods, so I created something familiar and comforting—tea. That’s how Tee’s Tea was born.
Beyond health and wellness, my motivation also comes from a bigger purpose—generational wealth for my boys. As a mother, I want to build something they can be proud of, something that creates opportunities for them and our community. I believe in breaking generational cycles and creating a legacy that provides financial stability and knowledge about entrepreneurship, ownership, and the power of plant-based healing.
Starting my own business hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. It’s about more than just tea—it’s about family, health, and creating a lasting impact for generations to come.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tee’s Tea stands out in the cannabis beverage space because for one it’s a ACTUALLY TEA BAG!! you can brew it anytime anywhere, hot or cold! And I didn’t just want to introduce the healing properties of cannabis—I wanted to do it in a way that was all-natural, organic, and truly effective. 95% of my products are organic, and you can taste the difference in every sip. What I’m most proud of is that my products actually work—there’s no gimmick, no artificial additives, just premium-quality ingredients designed to heal, relax, and rejuvenate.
Getting to this point wasn’t easy. I didn’t come from a wealthy background, and as a Black woman in the cannabis industry, I had to fight to be taken seriously. Funding was a challenge, finding the right partnerships was difficult, and navigating an industry still filled with stigma required resilience. But I never let that stop me because this mission was bigger than me—it was about helping others, breaking generational cycles, and creating a legacy for my family.
A huge part of my journey has been my autistic son, who changed the course of my life and career. After spending over two decades in the hospitality industry as a chef, I made the difficult decision to step away from that demanding career to be there for him. That shift ultimately led me to entrepreneurship and Tee’s Tea. He’s been one of my greatest inspirations—teaching me patience, resilience, and the importance of holistic healing.

Through it all, I’ve learned that if you believe in yourself, others will too. I’ve been fortunate to have people in my corner—like Courtney, who has helped me with manufacturing and distribution, and Vanessa, who is dedicated to cannabis wellness education. And, of course, my family, who has been my Inspiration and supported me in every way possible—financially, emotionally, and through the rough times.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a best friend visiting for a week, I’d plan a well-balanced itinerary that showcases the best of California—great food, wine, culture, and relaxation.
I’d start with a visit to a local winery for a tasting, paired with a paint-and-sip session to set the tone for a fun and creative experience. Since I love supporting small businesses, we’d grab lunch at a mom-and-pop restaurant, enjoying the unique flavors of the area.
A trip to California wouldn’t be complete without a beach day, so we’d spend time soaking up the sun, enjoying fresh seafood, and maybe even catching a sunset bonfire. I’d also include a visit to a consumption lounge or dispensary for a relaxed and elevated experience.
For a dose of culture, we’d explore some of the city’s best museums, followed by a stop at a street art district or boutique shopping area. In the evenings, we’d check out a jazz lounge, a hidden speakeasy.
To balance out the adventure, I’d include a day dedicated to nature—whether it’s a scenic hike, a coastal drive, or a spa day to unwind. Along with visiting either a dispensary or a Consumption lounge. Hey It’s California!
By the end of the trip, my goal would be to give them an unforgettable experience that reflects everything I love—great food, good wine, cannabis culture, and a mix of relaxation and adventure.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my parents and my sons. My parents instilled in me the independence, resilience, and determination that have guided me on this journey. Watching them navigate their own health struggles inspired me to seek natural alternatives and create Tee’s Tea.
My sons are my greatest motivation. Everything I do is to build a legacy for them—one that provides generational wealth, knowledge, and opportunities. They keep me pushing forward, even when the road gets tough.
