We had the good fortune of connecting with Eva Alexiou-Reo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eva, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a young woman, I spent a lot of time focusing on taking risks, expanding, having fun, learning, and discovering who I was. When I was 16 yrs old, I was caught up with going to DIY shows/ concerts and snowboarding. Since I grew up in a smaller area, we didn’t have many bands coming into our area. I started booking local shows for my favorite out-of-town bands and started a snowboard instructor job while finishing high school. At 18 years old, I was approached by one of the bands I knew from Florida about helping them book a tour. Of course, being 18 yrs old and fearless, I said yes! That “yes” turned into a 28-year career to date in the music industry! Being a business owner has its challenges; however, I enjoyed the journey so far! I credit my 16-year-old self!

What should our readers know about your business?
Fata Booking Agency is a booking agency for music artists. We are responsible for developing and managing live events for our artists. We also focus on artist development through live performances, expanding an artists’ careers, and getting them in the right rooms with the right people. Nothing is more fun than watching an artist grow and being part of that journey. Our business is filled with outstanding agents who do extraordinary things to help artists. I believe in an artist-friendly environment where I work to achieve the goal of that specific artist. The music business is a very challenging business with a lot of personalities. That was a hard lesson for me, being so young when I started. However, I still try to surround myself with great people, encourage young women coming into the business and be a positive person to others. The best way to overcome the challenges is to put up blinders and keep going. Lots of thinking can hurt you. Doing it with one foot in front of the other helps!! You have to get in there. The days you do not feel like you belong, fake it! Most of all, try to have fun. It’s great to be successful, it is even more significant to be happy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a huge fan of Philadelphia, so this is a tough question to answer. If my best friends were coming to Philadelphia, I would want to show them all the fantastic favorite ethnic places first. I would start the day by walking through the Italian Market for fresh bread, cheese from Claudio or Di Bruno Bros, and coffee, slowly working to South Street to grab brunch at Sabrina’s Cafe. From there, we would walk to the Reading Terminal Market to grab some flowers, pastries, and everything else that caught our eye. Afterward, we could head to Washington Square or Rittenhouse Square for a park hang if the weather was in our favor! Finally, I would end the night with dinner at Standard Tap, the best burgers, and a comedy show at Punchline in Fishtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am grateful a few people who have given me support, encouragement, and guidance. However, I also credit the people who fired me, told me “no”, told me I could not do it, and also those who spoke poorly to me or about me. Finally, I credit myself. I say this because I would not have gotten anywhere without persevering, moving past my doubts, and believing I could do it. As for the people who helped and inspired me, Kevin Lyman (founder and producer of the Vans Warped Tour and much more) and Marc Gieger (Music Agent) hold the light for most awesome mentors!
