We had the good fortune of connecting with Eva Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eva, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has played a huge role in my life, both personally and career wise. It can be terrifying – and also, I believe, the most important thing you can do. If you choose to bet on yourself you really can’t lose. Loss happens when you become stagnant. If you’re in the process of doing something, whatever it is, you’re winning.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I’m an actress. I’m mostly known for my work in indie horror films, although I’ve worked in many different genres. I do love horror dearly and am a lifelong horror nerd myself, so I’m always happy to work in the genre.

Getting to this point took a great deal of risk, commitment and belief in myself; it wasn’t always easy. I came from a theatre background and moved to LA right after college. I auditioned like a mad woman and worked tons of jobs I absolutely hated at first in order to make ends meet while building up my resume.

Being an actor means dealing with constant, like sometimes almost daily, rejection. It’s not exactly pleasant, but it also makes you learn who you are, quick. You learn to appreciate the roles that are meant for you, to let go of the ones that aren’t, and to really stand behind and appreciate what makes you YOU in all facets – apart from every other artist. You become a better actor the more you fully become yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If it’s my ideal best time ever, exploring off the beaten path/ weird/ abandoned stuff (slight Atlas Obscura junkie). It would also ideally be October because if I’m being honest I pretty much just want to go to haunted houses and run around in fog and pretty lights and occasionally be terrorized by a someone in costume. Some of my favorites are Horror Nights, Reign of Terror, and so many of the amazing non-professional local haunts.

I love exploring new areas as well – I’m happy to put my finger on a spot on the map and just go see what there is to find – the lesser known, the better. LA also has wonderful wildlife sanctuaries I love. Animal Tracks, The Gentle Barn, etc. I could continue with this answer forever. I’m a big maker of giant sized to-do lists for spans of time in which they will never get fully accomplished.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends, the ones who get me despite the weirdness, my agents and manager, the beautiful crazy little family that makes up the horror world, and really just anyone who’s out there sincerely trying to make a difference while unabashedly being you.
