We had the good fortune of connecting with Faren Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Faren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My initial motivation for starting a business was to gain control—over my ideas, creativity, and independence from upper management. However, as I navigated the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, I came to realize there was a deeper reason behind my decision. Over time, I discovered that beyond seeking control, I was truly searching for freedom and the chance to explore and rediscover myself in a new space
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Your response touches on key aspects of your artistic journey and what sets you apart, but it could be enhanced to directly address the specific questions more clearly. Here’s a refined version:
“I am a watercolorist and athleisure wear designer, and my journey has been anything but conventional. Being highly sensitive to the energy and emotions of people, places, and objects—a trait some may call being an empath—has shaped my artistic process. For years, I didn’t realize this sensitivity was unique. As I grew older, it became more intense, and at times overwhelming. Seeking guidance, I prayed to God, and to my surprise, He directed me to paint. I hadn’t touched a paintbrush since middle school, so I thought it was absurd. But I followed the guidance, and soon after sharing my work on social media, I began receiving requests for sales and commissions, which led to the birth of my brand, Farever Art.
What sets my work apart is my technique. I paint based on the energy I feel from a person, place, or object. My process is meditative—I often paint with my eyes closed, trusting the flow of the moment. I don’t judge the result; I simply create. This approach allows me to connect deeply with my subjects, creating a visual representation of their energy.
In addition to painting, I’m a certified 200-hour yoga teacher and barre instructor. I’ve merged my love for art and movement by creating an athleisure wear line that transforms my paintings into wearable art. This line reflects the same positive energy I channel into my paintings, bringing that sense of fluidity and creativity into everyday life.
My path has certainly not been easy. Navigating the challenges of self-doubt, the unconventional nature of my journey, and learning to trust my instincts have been ongoing lessons. But I’ve learned that embracing what makes me different—my sensitivity, my spirituality, and my creative process—has been my greatest strength. I want the world to know that my brand, Farever Art, is about more than just art and clothing; it’s a celebration of energy, emotion, and the beauty of self-discovery.”
This version more directly answers how you got to where you are, the challenges you faced, and what you want the world to know about your brand.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In true Libra fashion, I’m an introverted extrovert. I enjoy going out to places that are intimate, cozy, beautiful, and aesthetically pleasing—preferably not too crowded. Considering that LA is often packed, it can be challenging to find such spots, but I love the following places: Hot 8 Yoga (Sherman Oaks), SALT (saltwater pods in Pasadena), Pop Champagne (Pasadena, now closed), Garden Café, Chateau Marmont (they have the best cheeseburgers ever!), R&D Kitchen (Santa Monica), and El Matador Beach (especially on a weekday)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I’d like to give thanks to our Lord and Savior. I know this can be a touchy or even taboo subject for some, but I cannot and will not do anything in this life without my faith. Through endless prayer and my attempts to trust and be obedient to His guidance, I’ve been able to persevere.
I’d also like to thank my mother and father for their constant support and for knowing me better than I know myself. They’ve never discouraged my creative endeavors. Though they are more academic and logical, they fully embraced my Libra spirit of beauty, fluidity, and creativity. Without their unwavering encouragement and love, I wouldn’t have the confidence to keep moving forward.”
