We had the good fortune of connecting with Farnaz Esnaashari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Farnaz, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our industry is changing at a rapid pace, faster than most of us can keep up with right now. With major Studios on pause, and massive layoffs in effect. In the face of all of this change I wanted to create a space where we as creatives can unite, give back, and have some fun creating. After over 20 years in the industry working my way from intern at Nickelodeon to Executive Producer and Creator of Shimmer and Shine, I know the difficulties and hurdles that most people face when trying to get their show or idea up and running. But with that said while I was going through it I didn’t know what I didn’t know, and I didn’t know the folks who could help me on her journey well enough yet.

My journey gave me a deeper understanding of all the obstacles that artists have to face alone while trying to tell their story. After working as a show creator I went on to work as a President of Content and Development, this shift in roles helped me quickly realize how necessary a place for creatives to support each other really is. With that I founded The Pitch Docs. The Pitch Docs serves as a tool to help give back to the industry I love so much, by connecting talented creatives to each other while supporting future story tellers and artist.

At The Pitch Docs, our mission is to empower aspiring show creators by connecting them with seasoned industry professionals. We believe in choice, enabling you to select the perfect mentor or artist from our diverse database. Our goal is to foster a supportive, creative community and become the preferred destination for both newcomers and studio executives seeking fresh talent.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career pass was a very unique one, but like many in our industry we all have our own unique story of how our journey began. It was my unique journey and career pass that led me to where I am today with The Pitch Docs. Although there are many different services out there that people can turn to, what sets us apart from other services like Fiver for example is that everyone on the site is vetted industry professionals.  Many of which have worked on some of your favorite TV shows, Movies, Books, and Video Games. Shows like Ninja Turtles, Game of Thrones, Maya and the Three, Shimmer and Shine, Dora the Explorer, Shake it Up, and many many more! Usually access to talent like this is limited and reserved only for specific studios and agents, but for the first time ever we are making access to this folks as simple as a click of a button.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting I would definitely have to take her to all the beautiful hiking trails like Griffith Park. Malibu would be a must stop for a fun beach day and delicious food. Sugarfish NEVER fails… pretty much we’d spend the days on the trail, followed by a spa, then off to food, food, and more food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shout out to my friends and family who gave me the strength and courage to believe in myself and take this first step into a new adventure. And of course I’d like to give a huge shout out to all of the talented creatives, executives, professionals, and friends who took this leap of faith with me. As soon as I told them what I wanted to do, not only did they say yes, but they have been supportive and helpful all the way through. Without such amazing people by my side, this site wouldn’t be possible.
