We had the good fortune of connecting with Fatimah Hanif and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fatimah, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habits that have helped me succeed are deeply rooted in consistency, intentionality, and self-care. These habits not only shaped my personal growth but also allowed me to build a solid foundation for my work in vibrational wellness.

Daily Meditation and Reflection: Starting and ending my day with meditation has been a game-changer. It centers me, clears my mind, and allows me to approach each day with intention. Reflection, often through journaling, helps me process my emotions and gain clarity on my goals. This habit keeps me grounded and focused, even during the busiest or most challenging times.
Commitment to Lifelong Learning: Staying curious and open to new knowledge has been essential. Whether it’s reading, taking courses, or learning from others, this habit ensures I’m always growing and evolving. It’s helped me remain innovative in my work and adaptable to the needs of those I serve.
Setting Clear Boundaries: Protecting my energy and saying no when necessary has been key to avoiding burnout. I prioritize time for myself, whether it’s for rest, creativity, or self-care. This habit ensures I can show up fully for others without depleting myself.
Consistent Goal Setting: I set short- and long-term goals and break them down into actionable steps. This habit keeps me organized and motivated while allowing me to celebrate small wins along the way.
Practicing Gratitude: Taking time to appreciate where I am and what I’ve accomplished helps me stay positive and resilient. Gratitude is a daily habit that shifts my perspective, especially during tough times.
For anyone looking to build habits for success, I’d recommend starting with one small, meaningful change and building from there. Consistency and self-compassion are the foundation of any successful habit, and over time, these practices will transform not just your routines but your entire outlook on life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is a fusion of vibrational wellness and creative artistry, designed to heal, inspire, and empower individuals and communities. What sets me apart is the intentional blend of holistic healing modalities—sound healing, mindfulness, reiki, and vibrational journaling—with a deep understanding of trauma and its impact. My goal is not only to help people heal but to equip them with tools for lifelong growth and resilience, especially children and those from trauma-affected communities.

I am most proud of how my work bridges the gap between wellness and accessibility. Whether it’s through my sound healing workshops, mindfulness practices, or my book I’m Tired of Being Toxic: Self Journey and Transformation, I aim to make healing relatable and attainable for everyone. Seeing individuals transform their lives and step into their power is the most fulfilling part of my work.

Getting to where I am today was far from easy. My journey was rooted in personal healing—six years of therapy, shadow work, and unlearning toxic patterns taught me how to rebuild myself from the ground up. Along the way, I faced challenges like self-doubt, financial constraints, and the emotional labor of healing while helping others. I overcame these hurdles by leaning into my own wellness practices, staying consistent, and reminding myself of the “why” behind my work.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that healing is not linear, and it starts with taking accountability for your own life. I’ve also realized the power of community—whether it’s my mentors, clients, or collaborators, we are stronger when we work together to uplift one another.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand, I Maintain, is that this work is personal. It’s rooted in my own transformation and the desire to help others navigate life with less pain and more peace. My story is a testament to resilience, and my brand is a reflection of hope and empowerment. I want people to know that healing is possible, growth is achievable, and we all have the power to transform our lives when we choose to show up for ourselves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week, I’d make sure they experienced all the amazing, unique, and vibrant spots that truly make this community special. Here’s the ultimate itinerary:

Day 1: Tea & Tranquility
Start the morning with a relaxing tea session at The Grind Cafe in Vallejo, CA. Their cozy atmosphere and delicious beverages are the perfect introduction to the area.
Spend the afternoon exploring the Vallejo Farmers Market, where we can enjoy fresh produce, local crafts, and the lively energy of the community. Get some nachos from Championship Nachos.
In the evening, grab dinner from Leroy, a local street vendor who serves the best Jamaican food ever. His jerk chicken and plantains are out of this world!
Day 2: Books & Breakfast
Begin the day with a hearty breakfast at Noonie’s Place, known for serving the best waffles in town. A must-try!
After breakfast, we’ll stop by Ethnic Notions Gallery & Multicultural Bookstore to browse for a good book and support a local treasure that celebrates diversity and culture.
End the day with a stroll to My Legacy, a beautiful spot for taking photos and creating memories.
Day 3: Refresh & Restore
We’ll start with a rejuvenating session at Body by Design 2, where we’ll get a colonics treatment to refresh and restore balance.
The afternoon is all about relaxation and alignment with a community sound bath session hosted by I Maintain. It’s the perfect way to release stress and connect with your inner peace.
Day 4-6: More Food, Fun & Exploration
Explore the nearby Bay Area for more sightseeing, good food, and exciting spots.
We’d mix in some fun outdoor activities, like hiking or visiting local parks, and maybe a stop for some wine tasting at nearby Napa Valley.
Day 7: Wrap-Up with Wellness
Before they leave, we’d revisit any favorite spots (because who wouldn’t want another plate of Leroy’s food or another waffle at Noonie’s?).
We’ll end the trip with one final balancing session at I Maintain, ensuring they leave feeling as refreshed and rejuvenated as they are inspired.
This itinerary captures the heart and soul of Vallejo—amazing food, vibrant culture, wellness, and a sense of community. It’s a mix of fun, relaxation, and connection that truly showcases what makes this area so special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take this moment to give a heartfelt shoutout to the people, organizations, and life lessons that have been instrumental in my journey and success.

First, I want to recognize Watch Me Grow Inc. and its amazing founder, Jameelah, for their tireless efforts to uplift communities and inspire change. Their work reminds me of the power of collective support and purpose.

To my children, thank you for being my constant source of inspiration and love. You motivate me every day to keep growing, healing, and creating a better world. To my parents and my bonus dad, your sacrifices, guidance, and encouragement have been the foundation of my strength and resilience.

A special thank you to Dr. T. Elliott, whose mentorship and collaboration have challenged me to expand my vision and impact in vibrational wellness. Your support has been invaluable in refining my work and reaching more people.

To my trainer, Ms. April at Body by Design 2, thank you for helping me strengthen my body and mind. Your dedication and expertise have been transformative, and I am so grateful for the encouragement and push you give me to stay committed to my physical and mental well-being.

I also have to thank my book, I’m Tired of Being Toxic: Self Journey and Transformation. Writing it was a deeply personal and transformative experience, and the lessons within continue to guide me and others toward healing and self-discovery.

Lastly, a shoutout to all the men that weren’t for me but that I tried to love anyway—thank you for the lessons. Through those experiences, I learned to love myself more deeply, set healthy boundaries, and honor my own worth. Those lessons have been a pivotal part of my growth.

Each of these individuals, organizations, and experiences have shaped my journey in profound ways. I’m grateful for every step, every person, and every lesson that brought me to where I am today. Thank you!
