We had the good fortune of connecting with Fenyx Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fenyx, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal in my career is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I think it’s very important to have a clear vision about where you want to go, so that you’re taking the right steps to get there.

Someone who’s music career has always appealed to me is Sia. She’s an incredible artist herself, and has stayed true to her own creativity and artistry while writing for many other artists like Rihanna, Mario, etc. I would love to continue to pursue my own artistry and also write songs for others.

I have other interests as well that I would really like to include into my brand. Fitness and personal training are other passions of mine, and I would be interested in creating or participating in a strength training based fitness brand.

I also have a deep passion for food and cooking, so my true end goal is to have a travel food show so I can get paid to eat and travel!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
First and foremost I’m a songwriter and artist. I started my career in music in a group with my sisters, and we grew up singing together. We experienced a lot of ups and downs in the music industry at a very young age, which has definitely shaped who I am today.

I started writing songs when I was about 16, so it’s been about 12 years now that I’ve been writing seriously. I think writing is definitely my strength as an artist. My goal is to write music that relates to others, and expresses how people might be feeling but don’t know how to put into words.

My journey has definitely not been easy, and honestly continues to be a struggle daily, but I think most people in the music industry go through a lot to be successful. I think I’ve come to a point where I see myself as a person that will live a creative life no matter what. I used to believe there was a timeline, or an age that I would quit if I hadn’t “made it” yet, but now I feel like that’s a bunch of crap that the industry tries to put on people especially women. I feel that my journey through life and the challenges I’ve gone through have made me all the better of a songwriter and artist.

I have a new album coming out in September called “Last Tear”, about my most recent breakup. It’s an extremely personal and vulnerable project that I’m extremely proud of, and can’t wait to share with the world!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am born and raised in LA, so this could be a long list because I love my city!

Definitely Venice beach is on my list. Love the vibe and all the weirdos in Venice haha

I live in Covina (most people don’t know where that is), but weirdly we have the best food in Covina, so there is a long list of whole in the wall restaurants that I love out here. Fonda Don Chon is top of that restaurant list for Mexican food.

Tuesday nights are my favorite night out in LA for some reason. I love salsa at La Descarga, Jazz Eclectic at Bar Lis in Hollywood, and Poom Poom Tuesday at El Cid for Caribbean music.

I also love Black Rabbit Rose in Hollywood for great live music. I love seeing shows at the Novo in DTLA.

I love Pasadena for eating and shopping.
Eagle Rock is another goldmine for food in LA. I also love hitting the street food stands in East LA.

LA has a lot to offer. My list could go on haha

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people who have gotten me where I am today. First and foremost my family! I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and we have all supported each other in our many endeavors over the years. I would be nowhere without the support of my parents and sisters.

Another person who has recently come into my life is my producer, Devin O’Bannon. We met at a pivotal point in my journey, and I truly don’t know if I’d be doing music still without him. Thank you for putting up with me Dev 🙏🏽💙

The third person I want to recognize is CJ Beatty. CJ owns the gym I work out of, Training Ground Fitness. He actually poached me from a 24 hour fitness I was applying to haha, and I have worked in his facility since the beginning of my training career. He has taught me so much about personal training, and has supported me the whole way through my career 🙏🏽💙
