We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernando Perez (conchodreamer) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fernando, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
To allow myself to look silly and be the butt of a joke.

Everyday, people struggle through so much stress, anxiety, pain and all I ever want to do is help alleviate any of that, even in the slightest. When someone comes home or turns on their phone to relax, I want them to see this silly guy, wearing horns on his headphones and be able to laugh and forget about their troubles for a while.

We all worry about wanting people to find us cool, but letting go of the “I hope I don’t look ridiculous” feeling and instead realize, “Well, if I look ridiculous, that’s wonderful because it might bring a smile to someone’s face and give them entertainment.” At the end of the day, I just want to entertain people with my content.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I produce comedic gaming content that I truly believe you don’t have to be a gamer to enjoy and I think this is what sets me apart from others. I get on camera and I’m not worried about whether I’m the best, but rather, I want the viewer to feel like they just walked into their friend’s room and sat down on the couch with them. You can have ZERO clue about what’s on the screen, but you’re both laughing, joking and enjoying each other’s company.

It feels impossible to narrow down what I’m most proud of, but I would say the fact that I am making the type of content I truly want to produce fills me with the most pride. I’m not playing a character, or playing games I don’t want to, or making videos I have no interest in. When I sit down to record videos or put on my livestream, I feel so much joy because I am making content that I truly love to the depths of my soul. Now, getting to this point took so much trial and error. Not only that, but also stretches where I was miserable because I was trying to be someone I’m not. At the end of the day, there is so much pressure to produce content that is popular or that worked for someone else, but one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is you’re not necessarily making content for other people. You are truly making the type of content you want to watch and if you want to watch it, then there are others out there that do as well, This career is lonely, tough and takes everything you have, but if you can love the content you make, you can find the energy to keep going!

When it comes to what I want the world to know about me, I want everyone to know that I genuinely just want to make you laugh. I’ve been through so many tough times in my life and remember how lonely I truly felt. I know everyone will have their own struggles, but if I can help make others feel less lonely, than I’m happy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This questions feels so unfair because the list is truly endless!

When it comes to food, some of my absolute favorites to take people to are EAT and Aroma. They both have some of the best breakfast I’ve experienced in this town.

For drinks and a good time, The Roguelike Tavern is such an amazing spot to gather with your fellow nerds, eat, drink, and just enjoy good company. They also host tons of events like trivia, karaoke, D&D nights etc.. that are a blast to take part in.

On a beach day, my choice is Dockweiler Beach because it’s right at the end of LAX’s runways and you can relax while getting to watch the planes take off!

It’s kind of a cop out answer, but when it comes to exciting and interesting places to visit, I would say keep your eye out for some more of the hole-in-the wall places. LA is filled with so many incredible restaurants, bars, etc that if you blink you may miss them. But they will provide you with the best experiences of your life. So, take a chance on a place that maybe seems out there or doesn’t fit your vibe because you may just be surprised!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be the person I am today without my mother who has always been one of my best friends, especially after my father passed away in 2006. The strength that she displays day in and day out will never cease to amaze me. Her support of my career has never wavered and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have her in my life.

I’m also inspired by so many of my content creator friend’s that if I were to list them all, this entire section would go on forever. They all are some of the most caring, resilient and talented people on the face of this planet who deserve every ounce of success imaginable.

When it comes to my fellow LA residents, two of my dearest friends are JT Neal and Angelina Marie Broyles who are both not only amazing actors but people I trust with my life. The joy, support and goodness they show me is a gift that feels like I won a grand prize from the universe.

Finally, I’d be ABSOLUTELY nothing without my partner Mia Passarella. She has been the greatest person I could ever hope to find in this world and I can’t imagine going on this journey without her. She’s a voice actor and watching the strength that she has to audition every single day and face rejections that actors do, shows me how to take every rejection I may be hit with with a smile and move onto the next project.
