We had the good fortune of connecting with Filipe Macedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Filipe, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I’m building Talent Protocol becauseI believe talent is abundant. Most companies and startups are struggling with hiring, that’s a fact. But in my opinion, the real problem we face is lack of visibility and opportunity, not lack of talent. There’s a lot of undiscovered talent out there who couldn’t go through a proper education or who didn’t grow up in the right place.

Talent Protocol tries to solve this lack of visibility with talent scouting incentives and the lack of opportunity with global network of people willing to support talent. Everyone can sign-up to be a scout and make a profit by identifying undervalued talent. Users can benefit from a direct reward and also by being an early investor in their careers. The sooner you back a talent, the higher the rewards. Our platform also create the incentives to support talent and become part of a committed community that is financially, socially and emotionally incentivised to help them succeed. Talent is like a little seed, when nurtured, it will flourish.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Talent Protocol is the web3 professional network where you can discover high-potential talent and invest in their careers. Imagine the web3 version of LinkedIn, but designed for builders instead of business developers. A platform where you can express who you really are as a professional.

I’m passionate about this because my career has been a multi-threaded and unconventional path so far. I studied computer science, started my career in consulting, quit to become a DJ, discovered that marketing was my thing, experimented with street photography, and I’m now exploring the world of web3. This is a path that no Linkedin profile could accurately represent.

Talent Protocol is rooted in the belief that openness and transparency are better for the world. That’s why we’re free to use, fully open-source, building in public, and on a path to progressive decentralization. There is something about having a community around a product. They always push you to be better — they keep you on your toes, remember things you don’t and bring a fresh perspective. You also don’t want to let them down and come out with something they can’t be proud of, the stakes are high. In web3 everyone talks about community, but living it is completely different from reading about it. Every community moment, good or bad, has been productive for us.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At Talent Protocol we believe all success is collective. There are so many people that I feel are part of my journey, but my shoutout goes to my co-founder Pedro Oliveira. He deserves a lot of credit for nudging me into the career path I’m on and, most importantly, he deserves a lot of credit for the small successes we’ve had so far.
