Meet Fiona and Sage Reuscher | Program Directors, DJs, Media Creators and Parents

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fiona and Sage Reuscher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fiona and Sage, why did you pursue a creative career?
We started our own radio station because we were tired of listening to the same songs on repeat.

Corporate control on radio has put profit above all else. We hear the same voices as every other market and the same tired playlist, every day.

We believe people deserve better from radio. People deserve to have a proper variety in radio. People need to hear music curated by some one local. We want to bring back that connection with the listener.

Radio should be a voice for the community. Currently it is just a bullhorn for advertisers.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Fiona works IT as a day job and Sage is a photographer and videographer.

We were living up in the central valley by Merced when we started lastfmpirate.com.

We knew there was no way we would be able to launch up there. No matter how we tried, it was near impossible to get reliable clients. We were in the middle of nowhere.

We risked it all. Sold our house and moved to LA to chase the dream. That is where we are at now, still chasing the dream and paying our dues.

Our studio, media and computers are all in storage waiting till we can find a place to call home. In the mean time, we are using Safe Park LA and living out of our car, refusing to give up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are noobs to LA ourselves, but we are foodies. We love a quality meal.

A trip to Huntington Park for same Carne asada fries at John’s Drive In on Sante Fe. Also, Curry Boys on Pacific has an amazing goat and lamb Curry.

For a Burger, the best we have had so far is from the fresh and Meaty Burgers on Florence and 8th.

But hands down, best breakfast, best service and just down right delicious, you gotta stop at The Serving Spoon on Centinela in Inglewood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is tough, we had more people telling us what a bad idea it was than we had support in the beginning.

But our close friend Angel, she continues to cheer us on every step of the way. She has loads of experience on the backend of “The Industry” and has been an amazing help to guide us to where we are now.

Her gentle knudges in the right direction and well placed advice mean the world to us.
