We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Gerrish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, what do you attribute your success to?
If I could single out one thing, it would have to be perseverance. The Ability to see things through even when they’re at their most difficult.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey to becoming a working actor was not necessarily the smoothest. But, my achievements continued to grow and my successes became more notable as the years have passed. I think The key to my artistic and personal successes have been in remaining my authentic self. I try to bring my sense of truth into everything I do. I love to make people laugh, and share on a personal level. This is a bit difficult; our business requires us to be thick skinned and a bit tough. But within that skin, needs to be a nurturing, loving artist. From time to time I take things a bit personally, but as I get older I’m learning to let things go quite a bit more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love food! A visit from a friend would certainly be a gastronomical journey. Growing up in an Italian household, food was a necessary staple for conversation, love and goodwill.

LA and Southern California provides for unlimited opportunities to see beautiful places and people. It is by far the most diverse place I have ever experienced.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Starting at the beginning, the fire was kindled by the theater faculties of both the University of Rhode Island and Penn State University. I was lucky enough to work in the theater for nearly 20 years. I had a wonderful set of older mentors who taught me art and also very practical knowledge. As I started to transition into film and television work, I had a whole new set of ShowBusiness mentors who kept me out of trouble! And finally a shout out to the hundreds of students I’ve directed and coached. They have taught me far more than I ever could’ve taught them.
