Meet Frank Kilpatrick | Social Entrepreneur/Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Kilpatrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frank, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Based on my experience building a business in the advertising and communication space with my wife Linda, not so long ago I began a “Second Chapter” professionally: I thought that I could utilize my background with the written word to create musical lyrics that tell interesting and valuable stories — so I targeted my efforts toward the creation and production of music. (Our tracks seeking to convey a deeper message include “Gender Genocide,” “Yellow Fever,” “Happy With My choices,” “And That Is Why I Love You”, “We’re Gonna Dance,” “Blissful Blessings,” “Woo Hoo,” and “California Soul,” among many others.) Originally, I worked only to create the words, but gradually — with the generous support of my music partner, Rayko — I gained the confidence to fashion the melodic and structural elements of our compositions. Our Goal is to share our music through TV, Commercial and Film “Synch” placement.
From there, I also tied in my commitment to social contribution: This manifested in producing and distributing a documentary film supporting mental health, Stay Alive – www.StayAliveVideo.com ; the development of a multi-language television Public Service Announcement campaign to promote Covid vaccination – www.RibbonsForResearch.org ; a series of audio and visual mediations – www.GratitudeVideo.com — including Rebirth, an animated children’s environmental primer (used as part of a Stanford course); along with our recent volunteer activities with disabled adults and tutoring high school students.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We have created music all over the place — Pop, Jazz and Classical, even a Choral pieces with the California State University Choir — because that is the inspiration that we felt. Our style often captures a Retro feel. The challenge is that there are a million creative people out there — so there’s’ plenty of competition!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s go up and down the coast and take in all the diversity that our great state offers: Let’s visit Balboa Park in San Diego, La Jolla, Hollywood and Big Sur, (All as noted in our song, “California Soul.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife, Linda, has been a wonderful and supportive inspiration in my creative explorations. I also love working with Rayko as I mentioned; and collaborator (and Grammy Award winner) Alex Wand who has contributed significantly to my musical understanding.
