We had the good fortune of connecting with Fredick Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fredick, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At first I was a little hesitant to make it official. I always utilized it as a getaway and breaking away from the daily routine as it was a passion. Then when I wanted to try out different techniques and needed more equipment is when I decided to make it a business. I was shooting with a canon t3i to begin and learn the basics. Then upgraded to a full frame. Once I got comfortable with posing, directing, shooting, and found my style is when I knew I was ready to make it a business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been extremely fortunate to be able to capture many iconic moments for many families and I consider myself a lucky person for being able to do what I do. I am extremely proud when families refer me and continue to book me in the future. Something about being able to capture them in so many milestones makes me feel blessed.

The road to where I am now was not easy. It took a lot of working for free/lunch. Feeling comfortable and confident that I could deliver the clients vision and make it a reality. They were also many sleepless nights where I was working a full-time job, school, internship, then a shoot, and at night edit as well as study.

I have been fortunate to be able to do what I love and be compensated for it for some time. I truly consider myself lucky when I book a wedding, quinceañera, family shoot, and any other opportunity. I want everyone to feel comfortable and have fun during the shoot. I just want to be on incognito mode and be able to capture those candid moments. When you book with Fymz Imagery / Fymz Photography I don’t want you to feel like you booked a photographer / Videographer. I want you to feel like a friend is there capturing some of the best moments of your life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are lucky to be surrounded by some of the best and most diverse culinary areas in the United States (In my personal opinion). So if my best friend would come visit we would go eat everywhere. We would start of the day with some breakfast burritos from Lucky Boy in Pasadena. Then go to the beach at Santa Monica walk around. Get some coffee at this coffee bar on second st. From there downtown LA, Griffith Observatory, little tokio. Then end the night with all you can eat kbbq. This is the 1st day and ill leave the rest of the week for the readers imagination.

I find everything interesting. From being in a new place surrounded by nature, to a new place to visit. My new goal is to visit and photograph every national park in the United States.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends. They have been some of my biggest supporters and critics. I honestly do not know how far I would be able to make it without their support.
