Meet FreXinet | Artist & Owner of Relax Yourself Cosmetics

We had the good fortune of connecting with FreXinet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi FreXinet, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe the act of taking risks is necessary for advancement. Being unwilling to take risks will definitely create stagnancy and complacency. Risk-taking can be scary at times but without doing so the possibility for growth is certainly limited. We must continue to take risks, stepping outside our comfort zones, in order to live a more fulfilled life.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What I appreciate most about my art is that it is authentic. It always comes from a real place. That, and being very skilled at what I do, is what I believe, sets me apart from others.
I am most proud of finishing my first feature film as a lead in the independent movie titled “The Troll“ in 2023. Most of my background is in theater, so to be cast as a lead in a film was a challenge, but was also very rewarding.
If you would’ve asked my parents, they would mention I have always possessed a natural talent for acting, singing, and dancing. However, I can attribute where I am professionally to studying my craft in college and in other workshops.
Being an artist isn’t easy by any means. It requires discipline, determination, and knowledge of self. I am able to overcome challenges by having a great sense of my purpose, an incredible support system, and gumption.
One major lesson I have learned in my journey is to never give up. All it takes is one opportunity to change the trajectory of your life but you won’t meet that opportunity if you stop chasing your dreams. Another lesson I have learned is to take time to invest in yourself, or sharpen your skills. I was told as a young person that your big break comes when an opportunity meets your preparedness. So do the things that keep you prepared!
I would like for people to know that I am someone who will always promote the truth no matter how unpopular it may be. I pride myself on being authentic, honest, and being bold about both. My art will always reflect the life I am experiencing, or will be inspired by the stories of others close to me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting the area, I would first take them to Sunday Brunch at My 2 Cents LA. It’s a black owned restaurant with very delicious Southern cuisine. That night we will probably go to Fountain Valley Skate for Adult Night Skate (21+).
On Monday night, I would take them to Monday Night Vibes, karaoke in Hollywood. to be on a Monday night and has celebrities come through on a regular.
I will probably take them to Cabo Cantina on taco Tuesday. They’re consistent. Or maybe Bar Lis in Hollywood.
Wednesday is Salsa Night at the Sofitel in Beverly Hills.
Thursday nights at Tatel in Beverly Hills is nice. This is an upscale location with a chill vibe and live music. The drinks are good too! If not there, then I would go back to Fountain Valley Skate for R&B night.
On Friday, we would go to Little Vibe Fridays at Little Portion Social Center in LA. It’s a great open mic with talented musicians, poet, and comedians. It’s a great networking opportunity for artist who are new to Los Angeles and the entrance fee is only $10.
On Saturday, I will probably go to Venice Beach.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a few people who deserve some credit for my success. To start, my parents Sonia & DonOvan Johnson, for pushing me when I wanted to give up on things, and for holding me accountable to finish the things I started. My husband Joseph Davis, III (owner of Macaroni Joe wit’ a lil mo’) for supporting my ideas and also holding me accountable for seeing them through. My good friends Christina, Eunika, Alishia, Alexis and Candace for listening to me and being a sounding board when I needed it most. Also, all of my teachers/professors from grade school to college. Each one of them have imparted knowledge into me that is directly connected to my success. Most importantly, God, for carrying us all.
