We had the good fortune of connecting with Freycus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Freycus, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
We define success as an ongoing journey of growth and improvement. We constantly strive to build on what we have learned and experienced in order to create music that is even better than our previous works. We see success as a continuous process of honing our skills, exploring new musical territories, and pushing our creative boundaries. Additionally, success is the realization of our collective efforts and the fruits of our labor. Seeing our music resonate with people and leaving a lasting impact on them is truly fulfilling. Success is not just measured by external recognition or validation. It also encompasses a sense of self-accomplishment. When we create music that genuinely reflects our artistic vision and individuality, and we feel a deep satisfaction in the creative process itself, that is success in its purest form. We believe that success is a result of learning from our failures, adapting to challenges, and persistently pursuing our goals. It’s about embracing the inevitable setbacks and obstacles along the way, using them as opportunities for growth and improvement. By being resilient and staying committed to our craft, we are able to evolve and continue progressing in our musical journey.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
We are immensely proud of the reception our music has received. It has been a testament to the hard work and dedication that each member of Freycus has put into honing our craft over the years. Our musical influences, shaped by diverse backgrounds and experiences, have played a significant role in shaping our unique sound and adding a fresh flavor to the progressive metal genre. This fusion of influences allows us to carve out a unique space bringing forth a sound that is both familiar and innovative. Our journey hasn’t been easy. We have faced numerous challenges, both as individuals and as a band. The path to success in the music industry is often arduous, but it is through our collective determination and unwavering passion that we have reached this point. We have strived to create an experience that is not only technically proficient but also emotionally captivating. Our aim is to push the boundaries of the progressive metal genre, incorporating elements from different musical realms and weaving them together to create something fresh and exciting.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here’s an itinerary for our favorite spots around town:
1. We’ll kick off the day with a visit to Phanny’s, a popular spot known for its delicious breakfast burritos.
2. After breakfast, head to the Redondo Pier and hangout at the beach.
3. Then we’re off to Downtown LA, order the “Caffeine and Gasoline” cocktail and a Pulled Pork Sandwich at the Bike Shed Moto Co.
4. In the evening, we’ll head to the First Cabin Bar, a great spot for cheap and delicious drinks.
5. We’ll make our way to Ave 26 for some of the best tacos you’ll ever have.
6. To end the night, we’re going to The Baked Potato Jazz Club. Perfect spot for live jazz music enthusiasts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our producer, Pooya. Working with Pooya, who lives in Iran, has been a truly transformative experience. We acknowledge the incredible talent and dedication he brings to the table, especially considering the hardships of a revolution and political turmoil that his country has faced. Despite the challenges, Pooya has consistently delivered exceptional production work, helping us shape our sound and bring our musical vision to life.
We would also like to give a big shoutout to our session vocalists, Ilia, and Julia, who reside in Russia. Their contributions to our music have been invaluable, and we are inspired by their unwavering commitment to their craft, even in the face of a war-torn country. The distance between us and the necessity of working remotely have presented their own set of obstacles especially the differing time zones. However, Ilia and Julia have demonstrated remarkable professionalism and passion, overcoming these challenges to deliver powerful and emotive performances that have become integral to our music.
We cannot express enough gratitude for their immense talent and dedication, as well as their ability to bridge cultural and language barriers to create music that resonates deeply with our listeners. It is through their contributions that our music has gained an added layer of richness and authenticity, breaking down barriers and connecting people across borders.
