Meet Frute | Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Frute and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frute, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
Our end goal is to travel the world and share our music. It has truly been an amazing journey exploring new destinations and connecting with audiences throughout the United States, and we’re just getting started. As much as we love the studio (EP in spring, album in fall) and the efficiency of online music sharing, there’s nothing quite like the energy of performing live in front of a crowd.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Collaborative songwriting. We strive to write music that truly represents all 6 of us as a group rather than one of us individually. We love making music as a group and creating a sound that uniquely defines us as a unit. Our first record (Meridiem, 2023) was a collection of individual band members’ songs, while the EP (coming spring 2024) is the first representation of our collective sound. Each of the songs were created through improvised jam sessions. We’ve learned that the music is even more exciting when we write together and we believe it reflects the unique sonic spaces that we create through improvisation in our live performances.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In our hometown, Atlanta… -Buford Highway for just about every meal. If not, Willy’s for every other meal.
-Drinks in Cabbagetown or take a walk on the beltline.
-The Eastern and Variety Playhouse are fantastic venues for live music. Also, Reverence at Gallery 992. A very special musical place.
In LA…
-Beach -> Mogu Mogu (best food on earth) -> Millet Crepe for dessert -> Good Times at Davey Wayne’s for drinks and music
-Hang out in Silverlake, eat at Bodega Park, Gold Line and Bar Flores for drinks and music

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our producer and engineer, TJ Elias (Big Trouble Recording). His creativity and inspiration has taken the band to so many new sonic spaces. We started working with TJ last year for our debut album, Meridiem. After the first record, TJ became more involved with our songwriting and production process for the spring EP and is now producing our upcoming fall album.
