We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
At the end of my career, I want to be one of the most active and inspiring pop songwriters in the industry, whether it be through my own music or others. Singing and songwriting have always been a part of my life, so I don’t see myself ever abandoning this passion and calling. That’s why it’s a calling, right? It never stops ringing. My songs tell my story in a pop, poetic fashion that I’ve always loved to create, and I want to be able to use this lens and approach for other artists. I would love to write a couple of hit records in this lifetime for others and of course myself. I also hope my music lands on a scale that reaches a wider audience and people can connect to my art and feel euphoric from it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My goal with my art is to always create fun, memorable tracks that tell real compelling stories in a light-hearted, welcoming way. I pride myself on my ability to create instantly catchy melodies that are relatable and easy to digest. Professionally, I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for my dedicated music partners I’ve met through the musical community and their trust in me, and vise versa. It hasn’t been easy, as I continue to work a regular job to fund my art, but it’s been well worth it through all of the risks I’ve taken. I left the corporate world to pursue my music, so I had to knock myself off a pedestal there and say “yes, I’m willing to do what I need to do to pursue music.” I’ve learned along the way that instant gratification and success of your music isn’t everything, and it’s most important to just be really proud of and thoroughly enjoy your own art. The rest will fall into place. I want the world to know that my music transcribes everyday feelings, emotions, and experiences and presents them in a fun, pop approach that’s meant to make us all feel validated and less crazy in a very crazy world. We love, laugh, lose and cry. It’s all okay.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Best friend in the city? Definitely take them on one of the many great hikes at the foothills like Eaton Canyon. After that, a fun boozy brunch somewhere in Downtown LA or Santa Monica. Broken Shaker is a fun rooftop to venture to. For a transcending floral escape, we would definitely visit the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, CA. While most flock to staple beaches like Venice and Huntington, I would go for a more low-key setting like Zuma Beach in Malibu, CA. Some fun vintage shopping would also be taking place at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. And finally for some musical fun, I’d check out whatever is happening at the Hollywood Bowl because the venue itself is always worth the trip!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my music producers, De’la and John Caviness for helping me bring my songs to life in a production element. I always have an idea for the sound and direction of my songs once I write them, and they both always knock it out of the park when it comes to creating that vision. It’s such a cohesive partnership, and they’re greatly responsible for my sounds as an artist and keep me inspired to keep going. Overall, when it comes to the stories of my songs I have many influences, just from life and I thank those people who have handed me those lessons. And always God, for blessing me with a passion that turns my feelings, both good and bad, into artistic expression.
