We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Negash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I really wanted to start my own business so I could make an honest living, while being able to make my schedule flexible enough to spend time with my children. Ive always wanted to build something that I can call my own, and in 2020 I got my LLC up and running.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My business started as a residential cleaning company. But when my clientele started to grow, so did the services I offered through my LLC. I found myself making home repairs, interior painting and design, custom furniture, refurbished furniture, custom party props, etc. Before I knew it my business turned into something very unique with all the different services I offered. I’ve overcome many challenges in being a small business owner from figuring out the business aspect of things. Learning to stay on top of scheduling and learning to price my services in a way to not sell myself short or overcharge the client. Figuring out how to do things I’ve never done before. And I had to stay afloat when I didn’t have many clients to give services to. I feel like my brand sets me apart from others because I’m a one-stop shop for most housing needs. The fact that I’m a creative and have my own artistic style allows me to give my client exactly what he or she needs with my flare on it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t get out much to be totally honest, but I do like to visit California’s different beaches to either watch the sunrise or the setting of the same. I’m Ethiopian and a good Ethiopian restaurant like Messob is among my favorite places to eat. I also enjoy the Santa Monica pier as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother played a big part in my story. I originally started my business unofficially by cleaning houses with no business name. My mother encouraged me to make my business an LLC and do things the right way. She was my baby sitter when my schedule got busier as well.
