Hi Genine “G9”, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Taking a risk can be scary, and you may feel like if you take the risk and it fails, you’ll be sad and depressed about it. You’ll feel some way about something not happening as you wanted it to, but a part of risk-taking is learning as well. Because the only time you’ll take a risk is when you really believe in something, and I really believe in my career, so I’m willing to take the risk and see the outcome – the fruits of my labor. But if it didn’t work out, I would also see the lesson in that, and that’s how I look at life and my career.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I firmly believe that embracing my unique identity is what sets me apart from others, and the realization that nothing and no one can replicate the person I am. As long as I stay authentic and true to myself, I’ll continue to shine with a distinct light that differentiates me from anyone else. What fills me with pride and excitement is the anticipation of crossing the finish line and witnessing the success, seeing my visions transform into reality. My journey to where I am today is a testament to the power of being my genuine self, and continuously learning, growing, and embracing my evolution as a professional media correspondent and podcaster. Although it wasn’t an easy path, and still isn’t, I’ve recently welcomed a baby girl and I’m navigating the challenges of balancing my media career while discovering what works best for me. Parenthood has taught me the invaluable lesson of balance, and that’s the most significant insight I’ve gained along the way. What I aspire to share with the world through my branding story is the transformative power of being unapologetically true to oneself – it’s a winning formula every time. I make a conscious choice every day to embody my authentic self, and I’m grateful to have been blessed with the ability to recognize my own worth and not try to emulate anyone else. This self-love and acceptance are the greatest gifts I’ve ever received and that’s what my story truly is.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So, in LA, anything goes; you can get music, karaoke, or anything you want. It depends on the vibes with you and your friend at that moment. For me, I’m a homebody, but if my friend came out here, I’ll have to show her Sweet Serenade on Sundays from 12 to 9 at Zaya, and I will definitely have to take her to Everyday People, it’s one of the hottest day parties in LA. That’s what I love to do – just have fun and I love music. Oh, and we can’t go without going to 1010 Wine in Inglewood they have the best ambiance, chill mode, food, relaxation, and wine. I will take her there, to those three places.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I were to acknowledge anyone it would be my husband, family, and friends, as well as NBA documentaries, which inspire me to strive for excellence. I study documentary they have contributed to my growth development in the media world. While this industry can be challenging, with its ups and downs, rejections and acceptances is something that would naturally happen in this industry and having a support system family and friends who encourage me has been invaluable. Additionally, watching numerous documentaries, help me see who I strive to be in a sense just like my family and friends encouraging me Sports documentaries does that as well particularly those related to the NBA, as well as the NFL and other sports, has motivated me to push beyond my limits, as these documentaries exemplify the achievements that can be realized through dedication and perseverance, a notion that I find truly inspiring.
