Meet Gilly: Founder, Gilly’s Organics

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gilly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gilly, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think it’s the number one reason for any of the success I’ve had! Risk taking takes courage. Courage takes practice. It’s like a muscle and we need to flex it often. Sometimes we get what we ask for and sometimes we do not. If you don’t take the risk, you will certainly never know!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There is so much I am excited about! 😂. That’s what makes a great entrepreneur, but can also make me be all over the place. I have a lot of ideas! So, I tend to hire very organized and focused people! Right now we are so excited about our online growth and that we are giving to girls’ educations across the globe. Our goal is to send at least one girl every year (4 years room and board, books, tuition etc) We are also working on opening more doors with Whole Foods and other major retailers. Did it come easy? Hell no! 🙄 Well some things did. But starting your own business with your own money from scratch takes a lot of grit, patience and perseverance! I want the world to know my brand believes everyone is exquisitely beautiful and that our brand is t selling beauty, we are selling clean beauty! It’s effective, and great for your skin. I want my story to be that you can set your mind to do and be what and whoever you want to be. This is YOUR life!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I visit LA a lot but I don’t live there! My sisters in law, mother in law and bestie does so I know it well. I love hiking in the hills, eating at the best vegan restaurants (cafe gratitude) in the world, jogging in the park, taking yoga, sitting by the water in Malibu. Getting the best foot massages ever too! I love LA!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It starts with my Mom, Carol who passed 12 years ago. I miss her everyday! She believed in me and I felt I could be whoever I wanted to be because she loved me and instilled that confidence in me! I feel like every success is a wink to her. Then, around 7 years ago, I got introduced by a dear friend to the coolest woman, Shelley who became a true mentor. She is the Founder of The Female Quotient. She reignited my confidence that was lost quite a bit during grief and early entrepreneur days. She became someone I saw myself in and could aspire to be like. She saw my potential and then I did again, too. These two strong, loving role models have played enormous roles in my success!
