We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni “Blu” Rottier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giovanni, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from The Bronx, New York. Born & raised in a family of hispanics that allowed me to tap deep into my roots along with the street culture while growing up in The Bronx. I was born in 85′ so i did see a lot growing up in the 90’s. My 1st passion was baseball and my dream was to play but due to medical circumstances, music found its way into my heart. It drove me into going more in depth with learning on how music works. My late father was heavy in to listening Rock & Soul music through out my child hood of course along with the Spanish music such as Salsa, Bachata & etc. I found my love for Hip Hop growing up & that just took me off my feet.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve come along way from working at “studios” to studios to BIGGER studios that I thought I would’ve never seen myself in here in New York City & Los Angeles. I graduated from Institute of Audio Research in 2005 & been developing my growth as and Audio Engineer since then. Working with various local artists to working with Major Label artists. I always believed in “Being in the RIGHT place, At the RIGHT time with the RIGHT people” & not being shy or afraid to spark a conversation with someone from the industry. One lesson I’ve is that you will never stop learning and the way technically is evolving quicker by the day, you have no choice but to keep up if you still want to be in the game. In the mean time, I’ll be full filling more chapters in my book by staying hungry & true to my nature and continue to evolve and until I leave my mark on earth. Please feel free to check out my credits on Tidal, Apple Music, Spotify & etc.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would def take my best friend around the city and show them the highlights. Times Sq, China town, Herald Sq where the stores are…..def not far from Korean town, so much to name but of course I’ll take my best friend to my hometown in The Bronx and show them the culture around the way and the best eating spots….too many to name that i would go off the vibes depending where we at…….. definitely to a Cuchifrito.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my family 1st and foremost for always being there for me no matter & allow me to chase this crazy dream. But i would definitely love to shout out my longtime mentor Engineer, Christos Tsantilis. I’m at my height of my career due to his mentorship and trusting me to work alongside him while growing in this music industry.
