Meet Giulia De Bellis | Emotional Coach & Trainer, founder of The Camelot Institute of Human Interactions

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giulia De Bellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giulia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always loved fantasy novels and movies. They’ve always been my “escaping from reality” coping mechanism. During my studies I discovered that the world of magic is full of emotional intelligence. So I created The Camelot Institute, a non-place for teens to train their emotional intelligence just as the Knights of the Round Table did with their values or Hogwarts students do with their magical skills.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an emotional coach for teenagers and I’ve founded The Camelot Institute, an online platform (both for Italian and English speakers around the world) for those in need of a professional mental health support that’s out of the box. Even though I’ve studied and I keep studying coaching and I have a degree in neuroscience of human interactions, I always say that coaching alone is not enough, you need to incorporate other techniques into the job to be an all rounded professional. And that’s what I do. A few years ago I used to be an actor and a drama teacher. Now I use improv as a tool to deal with conflict within families, music therapy for anxious students and dance classes as a team building experience for teens and their parents and many other tools to help them develop a strong emotional intelligence. Of course it’s not easy to find clients that are willing to try my extravagant techniques, but the ones who agree to do it find it very beneficial and are able to resolve their issues quicker and with much more fun. My motto is “Just a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down”, obviously quoting Mary Poppins, and that’s true: if you have fun while learning something new or dealing with your issues you simply stress less! And we can all agree we live in a quite stressful time already.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start from Waterloo Station, walking towards the London Eyes and proceeding on the right side of River Thames till Blackfriars Bridge. I would stop the Blackfriars Pub for a good fish’n’chips in a former cloister and then come back to the opposite riverside and walk till Tower Bridge. Then I would visit St. Katherine’s Docklands and walk west on that side of the river till Westminster.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Surely all authors of my favourite fantasy books: from Harry Potter to Never ending Story, from the Chronicles of Narnia to Twilight even, they all thought me something and they still inspire me everyday. I also have to mention my lovely husband, who supports me and withstands me whenever I have one of my crazy ideas, that are a new training course or the writing of a novel etc.
And of course my clients and students, without them The Camelot Institute doesn’t exist.
