We had the good fortune of connecting with Glennis Seldon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Glennis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a young age fitness has been a major part of my life. I grew up in Long Beach, California where I was introduced to fitness through Track & Field/Cross-Country at the early age of 8. I competed up until my senior year in college. I graduated from Oral Roberts University in 2007 on a full ride track scholarship.

In 2009 I decided I wanted to start competing again. I hadn’t train or raced for nearly three years, and as a result I gained a little over 40lbs. I figured that the easiest way for me to get back in shape would be to join an elite track team. I assumed I could pick up where I left off. Boy was I wrong! I had to learn a lot about the importance of nutrition and how to properly care for my adult body.

I competed as an elite/professional runner for over 4 years. In 2016, a few months before the Olympics trials I injured my Achilles and wasn’t able to recover. I made the tough choice to stop training all together and haven’t raced since then. After my track career ended, I naturally started to brand myself more in the fitness industry. I was already a personal trainer and a Herbalife Distributor and hosted bootcamps while running track to make income so I could train full time.

In 2016, I became a Orangetheroy fitness coach and fell more and more in love with group fitness. And In 2020, i decided to brand GlennSpin. During a time where everyone was forced to stay home, Gyms were closed so I I had to get creative at home with strength workouts so I started incorporating resistance bands into every workout as a way to build strength in my legs and Glutes. I love the results i was achieving with minimal equipment.

I launched my first Resistance Band Set online Sept 11, 2020. Later followed a 6 week Leg & Glute Program and added my Number 1 best Seller Pink Cheetah waist trimmer/trainer, duffle bag and more resistance band styles.

I wanted people to be able to achieve their health and fitness goals with minimal workout equipment. Whether you or in the gym or traveling for work or vacation you can train anytime, anywhere.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others is my discipline. I learned at an early age through sports how important it is to be discipline when you’re working towards your goals. I am very grateful for that lesson because it has been the key to my success thus far. I have an affirmation I personally say and alway share with all my classes is everything that I am consistent with I am successful. Consistency creates discipline which creates habits that turns into results. The more discipline I am the more goals I will reach.

What am I most proud of or excited about?
I am most proud of myself for never giving up no matter the obstacles that comes my way. I’m not where I want to be but I’m further than I was. 🙂

I’m most excited about growing Hottie Booty Band Camp.

How did I overcome the challenges?
I pray, I meditate, I work on myself and I never stop believing in myself. I just keep going no matter what. Everyday is a new opportunity to try again. Running track taught me that there’s going to be bad races…in this case challenges…these races/challenges teach me about dedication. Am I really dedicated to my goals even when faced with trials and tribulations or am I a quitter? I decided long ago that I am not a quitter. I’m not gonna sit up here and act like it’s easy…it’s hard to stay positive in adversity. I have my moments but I’m going to win no matter what… as long as I don’t quit.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Life is a big lesson. It’s constantly changing. I’m learning and growing daily. The biggest lesson I’ve learn is that the mistakes you make in life doesn’t mean you are or will be a failure. It means my effort of trying to succeed. It’s just my first attempt at learning.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that I am not perfect. I know social media can make it seem that way lol but I make mistakes. I get sidetracked and I even doubt myself at times. I am human. I just refuse to give up on myself and my goals.

I hope my story inspires someone to keep going, keep believing. Stay consistent and you will see results. Everyone gets.a turn when they don’t quit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
On man this would stress me out so much. It’s crazy because I love to be in charge however I do not like to plan things. I just like to know the plan so i can execute lol! Plus my friends would be sad because we’re working out at least 2-3x during their visit.

Ok so we’ll say my friend lands Monday in the afternoon…rest at my place for a little then drinks & dinner at Red O. I love Red O, the drinks are bomb, food is amazing and the ambiance is a nice little vibe.

Tuesday we are definitely starting the day with a workout and it would be a taco tuesday! I’ve been told my tacos are great. Invite some friends over and chill.

Thursday we could hike to the hollywood and do breakfast at Court Cafe in LA. Sooo good!

Friday we’d take a orangetheory class…since I’m a coach we’d be able to get right in. And we could go shopping in the afternoon and maybe try something new. I’ve been wanting to try out Kale my Name a vegan restaurant in Encino.

Sat… of course start off at my Hottie Booty Band Camp. Get that good ol leg and booty pump before we hit the town. I’m thinking shopping

Sun – we would do brunch. Hopefully there’s an Urban Society brunch happening so we can have food, bottomless mimosas and music

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course my mom. She’s my #1 supporter. She believes in me more than I do. It’s so crazy how much faith moms have in their children. It definitely goes a long way. I also want to dedicate my shoutout to my family, all my track coaches for the wisdom and discipline running track has taught me that I now take into building my business and to my real friends, the ones that don’t play and me, we all have a circle…I love ya’ll for ‘shooting in the gym’ with me in those beginning stages of running my business. I love you for life! Last but not least, i want to thank me. I want to thank me for believing in myself. I want to thank me for never quitting… I wanna thank me for being me at all times.
